About me: I am the founding member of Smith Legal, P.A., practicing along with my husband, primarily in family and business law. I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, and serve as a parenting plan/time sharing evaluator to the legal community and the Court.
I am a native of Jacksonville Florida; two generations of my family have resided in Jacksonville. With the exception of attending University of Florida Law School, I lived in and raised two children in Jacksonville. I graduated from Wolfson High School, then attended community college, and continued on to the University of North Florida to earn her bachelors degree in Accounting with honors, and a minor in computer information systems in 1983. I then began employment at Barnett Bank (which merged into Bank of America) as an electronic data processing auditor, while simultaneously earning my Master of Business Administration, with honors in 1987, also at the University of North Florida.
During that same time frame, I had my first child. After earning my Master’s degree, I continued to work for Barnett Bank and had a second child I then changed employment goals and started working as a special real estate assets manager for Bisbee-Baldwin corporation. During that same time frame, I had a side business where I bought and sold houses in foreclosure.
In 1991, I moved to Gainesville, to attend law school at the University of Florida, and my children though young, experienced this new adventure with me. I graduated in the top 10% of my class and moved back to Jacksonville.
Prior to founding Smith Legal, I was founding shareholder of Smith & Greene, P.A. (also known as Smith, Greene & Combs), where I practiced for six years with a valued colleague and close friend. Previously, I was a managing shareholder of Bartlett, Heekin, Smith, Greene & Malin, P.A., a firm which concentrated in commercial litigation and family law. Prior to that, I practiced with Kirschner, Main, Petrie, Graham, Tanner & Demont, P.A., a primarily commercial litigation and business transactional firm.
I am also an adjunct professor at the Florida Coastal School of Law since 1996. I have taught a multitude of classes including: Civil Remedies, Family Law Practice and Procedure, Pretrial Litigation Drafting, Motion Practice, Accounting for Lawyers and Family Law Mediation.
I am admitted to practice in the Florida state court, as well as the federal Middle District of Florida and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. I am a member of the Florida Bar, the Jacksonville Bar Association, and Jacksonville Women Lawyer’s Association and also a Master in the Florida Family Law Inns of Court.
I live in Jacksonville Beach and enjoys ocean kayaking and other beach activities, gourmet cooking, international travel and world history and culture. I enjoy a close relationship with family, as well as my dachshunds.

Dishonest & Unreliable
My ex was one of those people that enjoyed making false charges and filing false documents, which Ann initially proved over and over, but in the midst of this high conflict divorce/custody case, she decided to stop litigating and only do mediations, leaving my child's life in jeopardy. Instead of fi...

Excellent Lawyer
Ann was able to keep me calm and focused on the goals during the divorce and not letting my emotions get in the way. She was able to really cut through the bull and give it to me straight.
