Biography
Helping people through the most difficult times of their lives is my passion and commitment.
As a criminal defense attorney, I have been defending client's constitutional rights for over 17 1/2 years, and I've personally tried over 112 jury trials. With my vast experience in the courtroom, I can navigate you through the various stages of the process smoothly.
As a family law attorney, I am committed to making the process of divorce as painless as possible. Because I am a foster parent, I offer a unique understanding of the heartache children endure due to separation from a parent. I emphasize to all of my clients the importance of putting their children first.
Whether a criminal charge or a family law matter, the cornerstones of my representation are thorough preparation and being accessible to my clients.
I earned my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida School of Law in 1994 and my Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1984.

Do not hire this attorney for a criminal case!
Ms. Mercado represented me for a criminal case. She is absolutely NOT an attorney to represent a criminal case, though she advertises these services. Replied last July 26, 2016I do not believe that the above review was submitted by an actual client. In my nearly 22 years of defending individuals, I have never left a single client alone to defend or negotiate for themselves, nor has any client ever complained to me of this alleged conduct. I suspect the above was submitted by a disgruntled defense attorney for whom a client hired me to replace around this time frame in 2015.
