Benjamin H. Brewton concentrates his law practice in the area of civil litigation and specializes in the defense of significant personal injury and wrongful death litigation as well as substantial commercial lawsuits.
A trial attorney for more than 30 years, Ben Brewton was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2009. He has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer® each year since 2007 and he has received an AV® peer review rating in Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible ranking given in both legal ability and ethical standards.
He currently serves as an invited member of the United States Southern District Court Advisory Committee and is a regularly invited speaker and faculty member at legal seminars concerning medical negligence, defense of serious death and injury claims, alternative dispute resolution and legal history.
Ben Brewton is a past president of both the Augusta Bar Association and the Younger Lawyers Club of Augusta. He is also active in the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, having served on both the legislative and professional liability committees of that organization.
Mr. Brewton is an experienced trial lawyer and appellate attorney. He has represented clients in trials in both state and federal courtrooms in cases involving: medical liability, aviation negligence, electrical utility injury and death, premises liability, personal injuries, insurance coverage disputes and felony criminal cases. Mr. Brewton has also argued appeals before the Supreme Court of Georgia as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Ben Brewton began his college education at Oxford College of Emory University where he received an AA degree in 1983. He completed his college education at Emory University in Atlanta where he received a B.A. in 1985. Mr. Brewton achieved his Juris Doctorate at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1988. Ben Brewton was a member of the Intrastate Champion Moot Court Team in 1987 and was the coach of the Intrastate Champion Moot Court Team in 1988. He is a member of the Order of Barristers.
Mr. Brewton and his wife of more than 25 years, Heidi, are active in the community, in their church and are the parents of two children.
