Colin Hunter Moriarty

I consider myself a proud citizen of Athens, Georgia, though I am originally from Chesapeake, Virginia. I graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1995, and then pursued a career playing guitar in a heavy-metal band in New York. After a year, my band-mate and I moved to Georgia, where our band played and recorded in the Athens music scene for several years. I ran a small recording studio and produced all genres of music for various bands. I loved recording, but I wanted a new challenge, so in 2002 I moved to Los Angeles to attend law school. I planned to study music-related law, but I was immediately drawn to the trial and litigation aspects of the legal profession. I interned both at a medical malpractice defense firm, and at the LA County District Attorney’s Office. I graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in 2005, passed the California Bar Exam, and moved right back to Athens.

After passing the Georgia Bar Exam, I worked as a prosecutor in the Athens-Clarke County Solicitor’s office. My legal cases focused on DUI and domestic violence. After three years as a prosecutor, I left the Solicitor’s Office and joined an insurance-defense firm in Athens where my primary assignment was defending car-wreck cases for insurance companies. At this time, I also began to build my own criminal defense practice. After five years at that firm, I decided to go into business for myself. I opened Moriarty Law, PC in January of 2015 to help people who had been injured or arrested.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Susanna, and my daughter, Lennon. I still play guitar when I can, but not quite as loudly.
