also known as Dodie Sachs
I pride myself on being a very compassionate attorney who is capable of tending to all of my clients' Family Law matters. I help people with all kinds of family law cases: divorce, modification of custody or child support, enforcement of prior orders (also called contempts), adoption, and legitimation/ paternity cases (where the parties were never married but they have a dispute over their children).
I am committed to helping my local community. I created the Family Law Information Class taught at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in partnership with Gwinnett Legal Aid in 2015. This class was created to help people represent themselves in a family law case, because I know that attorneys are expensive, and not everyone can afford them. I still help teach the class. I am a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars - helping teach my fellow attorney's - for family law matters. I was appointed by the Supreme Court of Georgia as a mentor for new attorneys through the Transition into Law Practice Program. In 2014, I was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Atlanta Legal Aid Society for my work with the Gwinnett Pro Bono Project and Gwinnett Legal Aid. In 2015, I was selected to participate in the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL) Leadership Academy Class. In 2017, I was recognized by Atlanta Legal Aid for providing more than 50 pro bono hours to the Gwinnett Pro Bono Project, which is part of Atlanta Legal Aid. I was the President of the Gwinnett County Bar Association in 2020 - 2021, and served in many leadership roles before that.
I earned my J.D. degree from Tulane University School of Law. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I majored in Religious Studies. I am the divorced and remarried mother of a blended family. My husband and I have five children ages 20, 18, 17, 15, and 14.

Fantastic counsel!
My meeting with Attorney Sachs was very encouraging and enlightening. At the end of our meeting, I felt confident to make all the tough decisions. She is precise, honest, and, most of all, the first attorney who genuinely showed interest in my well-being, it was all about the cash. Dorothy Sachs is...

Spot on!
I was so thankful to find a lawyer, that completely understood my case. Clearly, she had come across narcissistic behavior in the past. She gave wise counsel as well as handling my case in an efficient, timely manner.

One of the best decisions I ever made for my family
There are some things in life that words simply can't convey the importance of; the importance of protecting the health and welfare of your children, the need to preserve and protect your assets. The end goal is getting a judgement that's based on what's right and best for the children and adults...

Excellent Representation!
Dodie represented me in my Divorce case. I really don't have all the words to express the awesome job that she did! She was retained on short notice and stepped up to the plate as if she had be involved for a long length of time. Dodie was very professional and compassionate in reference to dealing w...

My best attorney experience HANDS DOWN
It's always a nerve racking experience when dealing with modifications in child support or visitation. Dodie made everything go so smoothly and kept me up to date every step of the way. She always answered emails and returned phone calls right way. I always felt like a priority. Dodie made sure that ...
"Dorothy Sachs is a genuinely nice, compassionate attorney who also happens to be one of the best in the profession. I respect her more than words can say."
"I fully and strongly endorse Dodie. She is an excellent attorney, with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I had the pleasure of working with her, and she is a dedicated mentor who aims to give the "why" behind legal answers and strategies. Dodie is realistic and truthful with clients, and is great in both the courtroom and in settlement efforts."
"I have had the pleasure of working opposite Attorney Sachs on a matter. She is professional, timely and knowledgeable. I also found her to be pleasant to work with and that is a wonderful characteristic in an opposing counsel."
"Dodie is an excellent advocate for her clients. However, her role in my career has been that of a mentor and educator. Dodie makes herself available for the occasional mentor lunch and frequently presents important legal education to her peers. If there is a CLE in Gwinnett County, you can count on Dodie to share her expertise, experience and research."
"I endorse Mrs. Sachs most highly. She is a colleague of mine in the Georgia Legal community. She is highly regarded by other peers and well respected and liked by her clients. I recently referred personal friends to Mrs. Sachs for consultation. They were very pleased with their meeting and her advice. Mrs. Sachs is a real asset to the legal community in her service to the Gwinnett County Bar Association as well. I recommend her most highly."
"Dodie was a pleasure to work with in an otherwise very unpleasant case. She was professional and intelligent, and she consistently made good strategic decisions for her client's case."
"Dorothy (also known as Dodie) is a spectacular attorney. She is knowledgeable about the law, and shows great compassion for her clients. She is reasonable and open to negotiation, but when that doesn't work she is a fighter for her clients. I refer clients to her regularly and have no qualms about doing so."
"It does not get any better than Dodie! She knows her stuff and is a fighter for her clients. She is extremely knowledgeable about the law and about the courts in which she practices. She also serves her community in many ways and is not only professionally impressive but personally as well. I highly endorse Dodie!"
"I endorse this lawyer. I am honored to have Dodie as a part of our firm. I have referred numerous clients to her for assistance over the last several years. Dodie is an extremely competent and professional attorney. An excellent speaker, who has done several presentations to clients of mine. She is a caring and devoted person that values family very highly. Her compassion and commitment show in the way she successfully interacts with her clients."
"Dodie is an incredible asset to our firm and to the community in areas concerning family law. I refer all family law cases to her and have received only positive feedback from clients in return. Dodie also goes above and beyond in our community. She received the “Volunteer of the Year Award” from the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, which is a tremendous honor and accomplishment, as it was decided upon by her fellow lawyers."
