Austin has worked in the legal profession since moving to Atlanta after college in 2001, and is currently licensed to practice in all State courts, including the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of Georgia, as well as Federal court in the Northern District of Georgia. His practice has concentrated in the area of Divorce & Family Law throughout his career, where he has successfully represented over 1,000 clients in divorce and family law matters, and he has tried over 300 hearings/trials in various courtrooms throughout the state of Georgia. His clients have included professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, business executives, business owners, commissioned salesman, entrepreneurs, pilots, brokers, teachers, stay-at-home mothers and homemakers, and individuals from virtually all walks of life.
He is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section, as well as Atlanta, Cobb & Gwinnett Bars Family Law Section, and has been a featured author in the area of divorce and family law in various publications (including “The Family Law Review,” “The Annual Family Law CLE Handbook,” “The Judges Bulletin,” among others), as well frequent speaker at numerous symposiums throughout the State on family law topics. Austin has also earned numerous recognitions for his skills as a divorce and trial lawyer --- including repeat selections as a “Georgia Super Lawyer” by Atlanta Magazine (past 8 years); named "Top 40 in Matrimonial Law" by The National Advocates; prior nominations by A.C.N. for "Top 20 Under 40 in Atlanta"; selected (by Judges and other prominent Family Law practitioners) as a Barrister in the Family Law Inns of Court; among other honors. He has also created important new law in Georgia through the many cases he's argued before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals (and is one of the few attorneys in Atlanta that handles family law appeals).
Austin is a founding partner of Fierer & Buerlein, LLC, which specializes in complex and high net worth divorce & Family Law cases. Prior to F&B, he worked as an attorney at several different prestigous law firms, including most recently Browning & Smith, LLC in Marietta, focusing almost exclusively in Divorce & Family law. Prior to B&S, he also started and chaired a Family Law practice group at the mid-size firm Rutherford & Christie, as well as worked on the firm’s commercial litigation team representing various corporate clients, including ones with international presence, such as Delta Air Lines and Chick-fil-A, in various complex litigation matters. Prior to graduating law school, he also gained valuable experience as an Assistant in the Family Law group at Lawler, Tanner, Zitron & Pachman, P.C.; a Summer Associate for Bank of America's Global Legal Department; and an Assistant in business development area at Troutman Sanders.
Austin cares about his clients, and takes great pride in his ability to treat each case/client as his "top" case/client. While a trained and aggressive advocate in the courtroom, his goal is always to -- whenever possible -- exhaust all means to try and resolve a case in the most favorable, amicable, and cost-effective manner, that mitigates the potential long-lasting effects following any Family Law case, before resorting to the courts.

Great Atlanta Family Lawyer
I searched all over Atlanta for family practice lawyers trying to find the right attorney for my case, and I am very glad to have found Austin. Not only did he have good advice for my quirky situation with my ex (which he assured me was not so quirky and knew exactly what to do and how to handle it)...
"A very fine lawyer and very talented. We worked on a Child Support matter and he was always pleasant to work with and always highly professional in all aspects of the case. I highly endorse this lawyer."
"Austin brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of complex divorce and family law cases. He is a zealous advocate for his clients, all while maintaining a steadying presence and a character that lets the client know they are in good hands. He enjoys a fine reputation both among his peers and judges he practices in front of in Cobb County and in neighboring counties. I have had the pleasure of co-counseling with Austin in the past and can unconditionally recommend him if you are in the market for effective counsel that will always put your needs first."
"I am glad to endorse Austin. I referred a client to him a short while back for a divorce/separation case and he handled it marvelously. He cares about his clients a great deal and is a strong advocate. As an immigration attorney, I now refer clients that have divorce/separation cases to Austin."
"Austin is an outstanding and knowledgeable attorney in all areas of family law practice. I have personally referred a number of clients to Austin based on his ability to take charge of a complicated case and formulate a clear plan of action while remaining respectful and helpful to the client. He is the first attorney I would call with any family law issue."
"Austin is one of the best young family lawyers I know. He is dedicated and passionate about what he does and he knows how to get results. He has a commanding courtroom presence and superb negotiating skills. I endorse this lawyer."
"Austin Buerlein is an outstanding young lawyer. He is a hardworking, agressive, client-oriented lawyer with excellent trial skills. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a family law or business litigation attorney"

We prevailed, and the appellate court fully REVERSED the trial court's modification of custody (and thus returning custody back to client), agreeing with the various arguments I raised in the appeal.
Case is currently PENDING (awaiting a ruling from the Court of Appeals)

The Court of Appeals denied father's appeal (and thus we were able to get client's favorable ruling affirmed).
The Court of Appeals denied Father's application for appeal (and thus the client's favorable ruling was affirmed).
We were able to get the appeal dismissed for the client (and thus affirming his favorable custody ruling).
We successfully obtained a reversal, and the Court of Appeals reversed the trial court's order, and found that client did not owe the various expenses to wife ordered by the trial court.
Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court's favorable custody ruling. The Court reversed the trial court's child support award based on the court failing to include requiste findings, but remanded for trial court to correct.
Successfully convinced the Court of Appeals to reverse the trial judge's ruling with respect to my client separate property claims on a premarital home. The Court affirmed the child support ruling, and gave helpful guidance/law for future cases.
The Court of Appeals did not reverse the trial court, showing the court's emphasis on weighing the public's general right to accessing certain pleadings in a contested litigation.
Court of Appeals affirmed trial court, providing helpful guidance for future divorce cases involving a valuable closely-held business owned by one of the spouses prior to marriage
Successfully prevailed in convincing Supreme Court of Georgia to affirm trial court's order, which found my client's ex-husband in willful contempt and liable for various damages and outstanding tax liability
Supreme Court denied the application for appeal, and thus affirmed the favorable ruling for my client by the trial Judge
The Court of Appeals affirmed an adoption handled by me
