The Best Firm

I am so grateful to Attorney Fairell for her law firm. From the moment I went to my consultation, I knew that this would be the law firm that would represent me in my divorce. Attorney Fairell is extremely knowledgeable and straight to the point. She cares about the law and make sure her clients unde...rstand it. I never doubted her knowledge of the current laws and she made sure I understood what that meant for my case. Attorney Fairell knew and understand my case and always kept me in mind as to how we would proceed. She represented me during my mediation which ended with both me and my ex agreeing and signing our divorce agreement. She made sure I understood what GA laws meant regarding child support and custody, division of assets and alimony. This empowered me to make the right decision for myself with her guidance. I didn’t loose my control to my attorney but was empowered to be a part of the decision making process. She represents the few attorneys that see clients more than just a case. I will forever be grateful to her attorney skills, knowledge and care.

Participated in Conspiracy and I Lost Custody of my Children

Retained Fairell Firm as my attorney in custody modification. The agreement was to conduct a psychological evaluation. My ex wife actually signed me up to be a patient of a doctor without my knowledge or consent, this doctor used my children and my attorneys to perform exposure therapy on me to treat... a TBI. Fairell Firm learned that I was not conducting an evaluation and indeed participated with my being a patient of the psychologist who was performing exposure therapy on me. I asked repeatedly of what was happening with the evaluation and they would not answer my questions about the evaluation, the process or why it was taking so long because they knew I was indeed a patient. As result of their participation and knowingly concealing it from me, I lost custody of my children. I do not recommend this firm as they are not honest with their clients and are willing to participate in conspiracies to commit crimes.

We at The Fairell Firm hate that you feel this way but we understand that mental illness is real and requires treatment and medication. You never had custody of your children because of your mental health outbursts and we took your case believing your version of events. Unfortunately, those issues started revealing themselves more and more in your behavior and outbursts. The courts brought in a psychologist to confirm and explain some of your actions. We always stand on the standard of what is in the best interest of the children. What is best for you and your children is that you accept the professional help that has been offered to you time and time again. We wish you nothing but love and healing. Once you accept that, you will be on the right track to be in the lives of your children.

Insignificant. Just a billable number in a large bureaucratic organization

I retained The Fairell Firm to take over my custody case as my previous attorney fell ill. The representation that I received was average at best. During the process, I felt Insignificant; like I was part of a large bureaucratic organization where I was just a number to bill. There was a fee for E...VERY CONTACT I had with the attorney. Example, I am the custodial parent, but my ex wanted final say on all major decisions regarding our kids. Mr. Roy called me and left a message asking if I would agree. I called her back and told her no, I need to have final say. Each phone call was less than 20 seconds, but I was billed $25 for each (total of $50 for less than 1 minute). This is in addition to her time for documenting the parenting plan. EVERY contact was a fee, thus the only update I received was by looking at the invoices. To be fair, the contract they have you sign do indicate you will be charged for every contact with the attorney. But, I was expecting periodic update on my case, which never happen. While reviewing once of my invoices, I notice that Ms. Roy sent over documentation where I agreed to use my ex address as the kids school address. This meant the kids would attend the school in my ex’s school zone and I would have to drop them off and pick them up daily to and from school. When I asked Ms. Roy about this, she said we had an extensive conversation about the subject and I agreed to it. (I know I was emotional, but that is something I would never agree to. I am not sure how I, or anyone, can drop off and pick up two kids at different times, 7:05 – 2:15 and 9:00 – 4:00, while doing a 9- 5 job). Yes, I was billed for that conversation. Documents were submitted on my behalf that I did not have an opportunity to review. I felt Ms. Roy was unprepared for our first court appearance which I cost me $3,500 in fees to opposing counsel. Prior to hiring The Fairell Firm, I looked at several other attorneys. The Fairell Firm was local and convenient, and I believed I would get the best representation. Sad to say, I do not feel I got the best representation. I do have another family issue and in need of legal representation, but I will not hire The Fairell Firm. I will begin my search once again for a new attorney. Thank you.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback regarding the services received at my office from my staff. I take reviews like this very seriously as it is our goal to provide excellent service and not "average at best." Attorney fees are always a tough subject for non-attorneys to understand which is why we lay it out in such detail in our contract and even go so far as to bold it and underline it so that no one is misled. Yes, all contact with our office is billable, just as someone who works for an employer expects to be paid for all work they do, not just some. For example, when you send an email asking a question, it may seem so simple because we gave you a simple response. However, when a client sends an email, the attorney has to go pull their file, read a parenting plan, final order etc., and then answers the question. If the attorney calls you, she retrieves the file, reviews what she wants to discuss and calls you. If you don't answer you still get billed for that time. So, you may get billed “.1” for that 1-6 minutes of time which equates to $25.00 if the hourly rate is $250.00 We have the online client portal available as a tool for clients to be able to log on and see what is happening with their case free of charge vs. having to call or email and say what can be read with the eyes. My intention for this portal is to save you money and to keep you informed by using modern day technology. Although you say you only got updates looking at the invoices, I have reviewed all our your email correspondences with attorney Roy which were numerous and you also scheduled in office appointments to discuss your case in addition to phone calls on 4 different occasions. Moving on. You came to our firm, not because your previous attorney fell ill but because she was not serving you in any capacity. We did a substitution of counsel and once we were in the case we you were ALREADY being sanctioned for failing to produce necessary documents to your ex's attorney. We brought you into compliance IMMEDIATELY. However, due to the fact that your ex had filed for sanctions against you prior to you having our representation, the court ordered you to pay $3,500.00 in attorney fees to your ex's attorney, not us. You indicated at that time that you understood why you had been sanctioned and went on to express that you wish you had hired us sooner. We were prepared for the hearing but when your previous counsel has blatantly disregarded things that should have been done there is not much that can be done besides getting you in compliance. You won your case on ALL grounds. You were a father seeking to modify custody with an objection to the child election at the forefront. You won custody. At the temporary hearing you were required to pay child support to the mom because you made so much more money. We found case law to support our case and argued it at the final hearing and now you have a zero support obligation. You purchased a home in August and moved counties for the benefit of your child. At the final hearing, the child was zoned to your district. There is not one provision you did not prevail on. I am sorry you felt that you were over billed for the average at best work that got you ALL the results you asked for but this is how we make a living and we have to charge for our services. We appreciate your business and it is unfortunate that you will not do business with us again. I do ask that before you go and hire your new attorney, that you pay your outstanding bill with our office. Thank you. Updated: Thank you for paying your balance.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
