A Fighter Who Tells It Straight — Exactly What I Needed

My divorce was as contentious as it gets. My ex-wife was a family law attorney, and finding someone willing to go toe-to-toe with opposing counsel who knew every pressure point wasn't easy. Katie Leonard didn't flinch. She took my case without hesitation and fought hard to defend me, my interests, an...d my reputation — which was under constant attack throughout the process. What set Katie apart was her ability to cut through the noise and focus on what actually mattered. When the opposition attempted to intimidate or influence me, she stepped in immediately and shut it down. She also called the case correctly — predicting how opposing counsel and the judge would react — and she was right. Did everything go exactly as I had hoped? No. But that's not what an attorney is for. Attorneys are not counselors, pals, or fairy godmothers. Their job is to tell you what the law is, give you their honest read on how things will play out in court, and fight for you within the confines of the law and legal procedure — without putting you or your case at risk. That is exactly what Katie did. To anyone considering hiring Katie, Ashley, and their team: you will get straight talk. Not everyone can handle that, but that's a you problem. The outcome of your case is not solely determined by the attorney you hire, but I know my interests were well looked after in Katie's care. I would gladly speak with anyone who is considering Leonard & O'Neil — don't hesitate to reach out.

Katie K Leonard is exceptional

Katie K Leonard represented me when my pilot- husband abandoned our family. She is exceptional on every level. She does not waste your money, is a straight shooter, and she will fight for your rights if you have been mistreated. I frequently say that her closing arguments on my case should have been ...recorded to use as teaching material in law schools. Compared to my ex-husband's attorney, she hit it out of the ballpark. She was prepared, detailed, specific, and extremely tough. She didn't waste time with irrelevant questions and she clearly "knew her stuff." I was ignorant of the whole process and a total basket case when my husband left my daughter and me. She prepped me well for what would take place in the courtroom, and she tolerated my meltdowns with ease and grace during the time leading up to the court date. I cannot say enough about her and her firm. They are wonderful in every way.

Couldn't ask for a better Attorney!

The divorce process can be a very tough road to travel and most of us really don't want to go down this path. But, if the decision has been made and it has to be done you are going to need an Attorney that knows the process and quite frankly comes with the attitude of "I've seen this/that before". Wh...y is this so important, divorce is wrought with emotions and having someone who can help you discern the best course of action for you minus the emotions is key. Katie's ability to walk you through the process step by step and help you navigate the "I don't knows" is a amazing. I highly recommend Katie to anyone that is considering a divorce. She will provide you with excellent service.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"Katie and I worked together as co-chairs of the Young Lawyers Division Family Law Section. Katie was a great co-chair and her involvement has been very beneficial to our committee. Katie is also an excellent advocate who works hard to get the best results for her clients. She is a great attorney who is able to work with her opposition to reach reasonable resolutions. But she is also more than capable of taking her cases before the court for a hearing if that becomes necessary."
