High Conflict Case, Exceptional Outcome!

I cannot say enough good things about Katie Leonard. If you are looking for an attorney who is strategic, prepared, confident in the courtroom, and truly cares about her clients, she is the one. My case was extremely high conflict. I was hit with a false TPO that forced me out of my own home and a...way from my daughter. As a very involved father and my daughter’s softball coach, that was devastating. From the beginning, Katie treated my case with urgency and professionalism. At our emergency hearing, she was so prepared and so effective that the TPO was dismissed before court even officially got underway. That moment alone changed the entire direction of my case. Over the next two years, we navigated divorce, custody, child support, and a guardian ad litem. This was my first experience ever dealing with court, and I had no idea how the system worked. If there was ever a client who could have been taken advantage of, it would have been me but that is not who Katie is. She was transparent, communicative, and strategic every step of the way. She could have dragged the case out for billing purposes, especially in a county as busy as Cobb, but she did not. She focused on resolution and results. In court, Katie is a powerhouse. She is calm but commanding. She knows the law, she knows procedure, and she knows how to present evidence effectively. During our divorce hearing, she meticulously went through financial records and uncovered inconsistencies and income that the other side tried to hide. Her attention to detail mattered. She even ran the courtroom presentation seamlessly using her laptop and the projector something I didn’t even know was possible and it made a huge difference in how clearly our case was presented. The outcome: 50/50 custody and a fair resolution on support. We were even able to utilize a parenting time deviation strategy before it formally went into law in 2026. That level of forward thinking and preparation speaks volumes. Divorce and custody battles are emotional. Not everyone gets the outcome they hope for. But in my experience, Katie was honest about expectations, prepared me for reality, fought hard when it mattered, and delivered results. She was worth every penny. If you want an attorney who will advocate fiercely for you, stay composed under pressure, and truly bring the heat when it counts, I highly recommend Katie Leonard and the team at Leonard & O’Neil.

Katie is Wonder Woman

I lived nearly 50 years without needing an attorney, but sometimes, despite your best efforts to live life peaceably, you end up in a legal battle. Early one Saturday morning a deputy sheriff rang our doorbell, and my minor daughter was “served” papers to legitimate her newborn daughter, change her ...last name, and get joint custody. We needed an attorney. The best advice I have ever received was to call Boyd Collar Nolen & Tuggle. Based on our case and needs, they set us up to meet with Katie Kiihnl. My daughter and I went into that meeting in a state of panic. In less than an hour, Katie had eased our fears and established a plan to protect us. We didn’t understand all that was happening or that needed to happen, but we rested easy knowing that Katie knew exactly what to do and that she had everything under control. The custody case was very contentious, and Katie was there every step of the way to answer our questions, give us advise, and intercede as needed to protect my daughter and granddaughter. Our case went to trial. Katie is a master in the courtroom, and every time she came into the courtroom on our behalf, she was fully prepared. In addition to her knowledge of the applicable laws, Katie expertly researched and applied case law to support our pleadings. We contended that the father did not meet the criteria to legitimate the baby, but the courts routinely granted every father’s petition to legitimate, as well as his request to change his baby’s last name to his own. It was unheard of in our county for a legitimation petition to be denied. We were seeking an impossible judgment, but our pleadings were rooted in our desire to protect my granddaughter. Katie had her work cut out for her, and she boldly embraced the challenge. She was honest with us about the odds, but she understood our concerns and stepped into the gap on our behalf. My daughter had to testify, and she was afraid to face the father and his family in the courtroom. I can’t even find the words to express how wonderful Katie was to my daughter and how well she prepared her for trial. With truth on her side and Wonder Woman, Katie, as her lawyer, my daughter faced her fears and testified. The judge signed Katie's order and parenting plan giving us EVERYTHING we asked for. The judge denied the legitimation, denied the name change, gave my daughter sole legal and sole physical custody, and ordered parenting time as presented in our parenting plan. It is an epic judgment obtained by the Grace of God at the hands of Katie Kiihnl. Everything about working with Katie was positive. She is an absolute delight, she genuinely cares about us, she is funny and engaging, and she is a CONSUMATE PROFESSIONAL. Katie has a top notch paralegal, Heather Bennett. Whenever we tried to contact Katie and she was in court or otherwise unavailable, Heather responded to help us. They are an amazing team, and we felt completely comfortable in their care.

Katie is the best!!!

Katie is amazing. I was stressed and worried on the verge of a breakdown going into her office, coming out I was smiling and completely relieved. She knows exactly what she's doing and how to do it. I can't imagine that anyone else would have been able to do for me what she did. She got me everything... I wanted. I was able to trust in her completely throughout the entire process. She is a firecracker in the courtroom. I plan to keep her close by for any future legal needs, but also as a friend. Katie genuinely cares about her clients as people, not just a way of making money. Shes a beautiful person inside and out and is amazing at what she does!

"Katie and I worked together as co-chairs of the Young Lawyers Division Family Law Section. Katie was a great co-chair and her involvement has been very beneficial to our committee. Katie is also an excellent advocate who works hard to get the best results for her clients. She is a great attorney who is able to work with her opposition to reach reasonable resolutions. But she is also more than capable of taking her cases before the court for a hearing if that becomes necessary."
