Katie Leonard dedicates her practice exclusively to family law. She has successfully represented clients in simple and complex actions for divorce, child custody, support and alimony, modification of previous orders, paternity and legitimation, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and contempt actions. She is trained as a Guardian ad litem and has considerable first-chair trial experience in family law, especially contested divorce actions and complex child custody cases.
In addition to her litigation practice, Katie is active in the Georgia State and Cobb County Bar Associations. She serves as a delegate on the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia and the Cobb Bar Association’s Board of Trustees. Within the State Bar of Georgia, Katie is a member of the Family Law Section Executive Committee, where she has served since 2015. Katie is also a member of the State Bar’s Attorney Wellness and Public Interest Committees. As a young lawyer, Katie graduated from the State Bar’s Leadership Academy and went on to serve as the co-chair of the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Family Law Committee from 2014 through 2016. Katie is the current President of the Cobb Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division and is a member of the 2020 class of Leadership Cobb. She is the Social Committee Co-Chair for the Lawyers Club of Atlanta and volunteers her time to various fundraising and pro bono legal initiatives, including Legal Aid’s Justice Jam, where she has served on the planning committee since 2016.
As a result of her involvement in various legal organizations and the community, Katie was recognized in the inaugural class of Delta Zeta Sorority’s “35 Under 35,” a program honoring select members nationwide who have achieved success and recognition in their chosen career field by the age of 35.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Katie now lives in Marietta with her husband, Judge Robert D. Leonard II of the Superior Court of Cobb County. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time on the lake with her husband and their two black labs, Memphis and Tuck.

It became evident from the outset that this lawyer's primary concern was money, not the well-being of their clients. Throughout the entire process, I felt like I was just another source of income rather than a person in need of assistance. Not only was the communication lacking, but it seemed that...

She will take your money then have the audacity to come after you seven months later since her clientele is poor, making up fake deductions, requesting for you to pay her more. After she failed to represent you. I sat on my computer for two hours, uploading pictures of my child, and she didn’t use on...

Katie K Leonard represented me when my pilot- husband abandoned our family. She is exceptional on every level. She does not waste your money, is a straight shooter, and she will fight for your rights if you have been mistreated. I frequently say that her closing arguments on my case should have been ...

I lived nearly 50 years without needing an attorney, but sometimes, despite your best efforts to live life peaceably, you end up in a legal battle. Early one Saturday morning a deputy sheriff rang our doorbell, and my minor daughter was “served” papers to legitimate her newborn daughter, change her ...

Katie is amazing. I was stressed and worried on the verge of a breakdown going into her office, coming out I was smiling and completely relieved. She knows exactly what she's doing and how to do it. I can't imagine that anyone else would have been able to do for me what she did. She got me everything...
"Katie and I worked together as co-chairs of the Young Lawyers Division Family Law Section. Katie was a great co-chair and her involvement has been very beneficial to our committee. Katie is also an excellent advocate who works hard to get the best results for her clients. She is a great attorney who is able to work with her opposition to reach reasonable resolutions. But she is also more than capable of taking her cases before the court for a hearing if that becomes necessary."
"Katie is an outstanding lawyer who I have had the pleasure to work with on many occasions. She is smart, thoughtful and works very hard to get the best outcome for her clients. I would not hesitate to recommend her."
"Katie is an extremely intelligent and hard working advocate for her clients. I have worked with her and against her and can attest to her ethical, professional, and excellent representation of her clients."
