I am a former Administrative Law Judge in the Social Security Administration's Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR). As an Administrative Law Judge at SSA, I held approximately 700 hearings and made decisions on 1,000 cases. I have more than 21 years experience in Social Security law, over 4 years of that in ODAR, first as an Attorney Advisor researching Social Security law and writing decisions for Administrative Law Judges, and than as an Administrative Law Judge.
I know what evidence is important to a finding of disability and how to present that evidence to the Social Security Administration in a way that is most favorable to my client. I accept cases for disability (both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income), continuing disability reviews, SSI children's claims, SSI age 18 disability redeterminations, and other Social Security issues such as overpayments.
I will work with you on filing your initial claims, submitting medical evidence to SSA and emphasizing the legal basis for your disability claim. I will also represent you on appeal, both at reconsideration at the Disability Adjudication Service and at a hearing before an ODAR Administrative Law Judge.

"Ms. Hamilton has repeatedly demonstrated on Avvo that she is very knowledgeable about Social Security matters. Her advice is well written, thoughtful and accurate. Her advice often reflects her unique experiences as a former Judge and staff attorney for Social Security, as well as her years of experience as a claims representative. Her knowledge and understanding of the Social Security system and regulations is impressive, and serves as a good foundation for giving clients the best representation possible. Clients are well served by having her as their attorney."
"In the short time I have known Ms. Hamilton, she has proven herself to be a fount of wisdom and practical knowledge about how the Social Security benefits system operates. This is no surprise if one reviews her resume and work experience. It is a real benefit to have her posting on Avvo and representing claimants before the Social Security Administration. I wholeheartedly endorse Ms. Hamilton and believe that clients in Georgia would be hard pressed to find a better representative for their Social Security matters."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Marilyn Hamilton since she began practicing law. She is a smart, competent and able advocate. She understands the Social Security system, which is sometimes half the battle."
