Attorney Nishit V. Patel was born in London, England and immigrated to Florida with his family in the 1980s. A majority of his childhood in Orlando, Florida, Mr. Patel later went on to study at The University of Georgia where he obtained his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from the Terry College of Business and an Academic Certificate in Personal and Organizational Leadership from the Institute for Leadership Advancement. Upon graduation he worked for Moore, Stephens, Tiller, LLC. in Atlanta, Georgia, a member of Moore Stephens International which one of the world’s major accounting and consulting networks with 301 independent CPA firms and 636 offices in 100 countries, prior to returning to Orlando to attend Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor and graduated in the top 20% of his class. Influenced by the wisdom of his professors, Nishit developed a passion for the practice of law and his potential to help others through legal counsel. Nishit Patel was recognized by The Florida Bar Board of Bar Examiners as having the model family law essay on the bar exam which is currently published in the Bar’s study guide for the essay portion. He has been a recognized speaker at the ABA’s Equal Justice Conference on the topics of pro bono work and the legal practice in an economic downturn.
Mr. Patel began his legal career by devoting his skill, knowledge, and time to Legal Aid of Manasota where he the regional director for the Community Counsel Project, a project dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to area non-profits. He later joined a small boutique firm where Mr. Patel headed the firm’s family and civil litigation department.
In an effort to provide his clients with the individualized compassionate service and aggressive representation to meet his clients’ needs he founded his firm, N.V.P. Law, P.A. in February of 2012. He is licensed to practice both in the State of Florida and Georgia.
Community InvolvementMr. Patel is an active member of the community and various charitable organizations. While at The University of Georgia he was the co-founder of Adrenergic, a non-profit dedicated to providing other non-profits with the business expertise to become self-sustaining in an ever changing economy. While in law school Mr. Patel was an active member of student governance and the law schools liaison to the American Bar Association. Mr. Patel is now the Secretary and member of the Board of Directors for the young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association. Mr. Patel was also recently elected to Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar.
Nishit also dedicates his time and skill to giving back to the greater Sarasota-Bradenton community. He is a committee member of the Diversity Committee of the Sarasota County Bar Associated which is dedicated to attracting diverse new lawyers to Sarasota. In addition he is an active participant on many committees of the local Make-a-Wish Foundation chapter and organizes fundraisers to help raise crucial monies for this worthy cause. Kickstarting his career by providing pro bono legal services, Mr. Patel continues to be actively involved with Legal Aid of Manasota and dedicates a portion of his practice to providing pro bono legal services to some of the areas most needy residents.
He is the current President-Elect for the Sarasota County County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He is an elected member to the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar. He was also appointed by Florida Bar President Eugene Pettis to sit on the Vision 2016 Commission for the Comprehensive Study of the Future Practice of Law.
