Christopher Michael Upshaw

Christopher “Doc” Upshaw is an Associate at Sanchez Hayes & Associates, LLC, where he assists with the firm’s criminal, civil litigation, and employment practice. The bulk of Mr. Upshaw’s practice is devoted to criminal defense, where he defends the rights of the accused in municipal, state, superior, and federal courts throughout Georgia. In addition, Mr. Upshaw devotes substantial time to state and federal civil litigation such as contract disputes, police brutality, false arrest, excessive force, and various employment matters. 

Mr. Upshaw received his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana. While at Tulane, Mr. Upshaw was the Director of the Criminal Division of the Tulane University Legal Assistance Program. In that capacity, Mr. Upshaw provided free and low cost legal services to criminal defendants in and around New Orleans. During that time, Mr. Upshaw also practiced with the Tulane Civil Litigation Clinic where he represented plaintiffs in need of affordable housing. Mr. Upshaw received his B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Alabama. At Alabama, Mr. Upshaw was a member of the University Honors Program and the Blount Undergraduate Initiative.
