I love her!! She helped me file for bankruptcy, and she did a wonderful job. She is very calm, cool and collected in the courtroom. She was very prepared and made sure her clients were prepared as well. She made what seemed to be the worst time of my life more pleasurable and less confusing. The day my wife and I came to the realization that we needed to file for Chap 7 BK, our biggest concern became: how do we find the right attorney to represent us. I'm a detailed, research, investigative type of person and I had already read numerous reviews on Yelp, Avvo, Google, legal boards and fo...rums, etc. I knew that our attorney's responsiveness, attention to detail, and advocacy would be very influential to the success of our case. In the reviews, the common problems that people expressed were: 1. Their attorney either was not properly prepared for their case and made numerous errors 2. They originally met with one attorney at the beginning of their filing, but at the creditor's hearing a different attorney represented them (one who didn't have full and knowledge of their case) 3. They simply could not have reasonable questions answered in a complete and timely fashion, and were not guided through this uncertain process by the hand with patience and understanding. So now you understand what was on my mind and guiding the questions I would ask attorneys. After narrowing my search down to 5 attorneys, I called 2 of them. Both calls went well, but I didn't feel the "warm and fuzzies" about either of them. Ms. Martin was my third call, and I called on a Saturday afternoon to leave a message. However, she answered the phone to my surprise (very pleasantly by the way) and spoke with me about my financial concerns, for about 30-40 minutes. She didn't judge us, but rather was empathetic and explained what we needed to organize for our meeting and what to expect next. She was extremely helpful in answering ALL my questions, and even the ones I asked a second time to be doubly sure. She understood and explained things again so that I had clarity. Shonterria Martin is a great listener and and equally competent advisor. We leaned on her numerous times for her expertise and guidance. At the creditor's meeting she was confident and advocated for us when/where it was necessary. We happened to be the last case of the docket for our time slot that day, so we heard/witnessed about a dozen cases before we were actually called up. I can tell you from this experience that several of the attorneys (that advertise heavily on the radio) were called out by the trustee for not having their client's paperwork in proper order, or for errors that the trustee found in the course of the hearing. Not so with my attorney (and I felt like we had a thicker file than other people). Ms Martine was definitely on point. In addition, it was very comforting to have the representation of just Ms. Martin throughout my whole case, and not have to deal with multiple attorneys on my file. She is a busy lady, and at the one point in my case when I felt that I needed a little bit more responsiveness from her, she quickly responded and smoothed things out. I appreciated that. I am very satisfied and grateful for Attorney Shonterria Martin. She was the best advocate I think we could have had in our Chapter 7 BK. I am 100% confident that her advocacy and understanding will put you at ease through this process and her expertise and extensive case knowledge will guide you to a successful discharge of your BK.
