Late to Court hearings. Lack of preparation.

Replied last November 08, 2022Mr. Maffett, I met with you several times and spoke with you for hours on end regarding your case. I cannot help that Georgia law requires non-custodial parents, such as yourself, to pay child support to the custodial parent. I also cannot help that the judge denied your request for joint parenting time when you refused to exercise parenting time with your two children prior to your final hearing date. Unfortunately, the court was clearly not confident that you would exercise equal parenting time with your children when you wouldn’t visit with them on a temporary basis prior to court. My office worked diligently on your case in spite of the outcome and I wish you the best moving forward.

Replied last September 07, 2022Dear Sonja, I’m sorry to hear that you feel you had a negative experience with my office. As I recall, you and your spouse actually entered into a settlement agreement prior to any discovery being served in your case. Essentially, your case became uncontested at that point and, per the agreement that you signed, all discovery was waived at that point as well. I’m sorry you don’t recall entering into the settlement agreement that you and your spouse both signed and requested from my office. I’m also certain that you recall how my office took steps to ensure that you prevailed on the issue of child custody in your divorce case. I know that you elected to complete your case with another attorney’s office and I’m sorry that you are still not satisfied with the outcome that your subsequent counsel provided. As is the case with all of our clients, I met with you on numerous occasions, making sure to answer and address all of your issues and concerns without you incurring even a single penny of additional costs of representation beyond your initial flat fee. Additionally, as is the case with all our clients, my staff and I made sure to timely respond to your phone calls, requests for meetings, and any other concerns that you had regarding your case without limitation. As always, I am available to discuss any ongoing concerns you may have and I wish you the best moving forward.
