Took advantage of a single mother fighting for her son

I hired this firm during one of the hardest periods of my life — an ongoing custody case involving my son that has lasted for years. From the very beginning, I made my goals and concerns extremely clear. I had evidence to support my position and retained this firm because I was told they would fight ...for me and advocate for the best interests of my child. Instead, after spending more than $23,000 in just five months, I felt no further along in my case than when I started. Throughout representation, the opposing side aggressively pursued subpoenas, financial records, and even had law enforcement appear at my workplace, yet I consistently felt there was little to no strategic response or advocacy on my behalf. A 50/50 custody arrangement had already been established for nearly a year before my ex-husband chose to challenge it, yet I was repeatedly made to feel like I had to “prove myself” against allegations that were simply untrue. The final straw for me was mediation. I expected preparation, negotiation, and advocacy. Instead, I felt abandoned in the room. There was no meaningful fight for my position, no real negotiation effort, and I found myself being the one asking the mediator to continue discussions with the other side. Looking back through my billing only added to my frustration. I was charged for things that felt excessive and unjustified, including: * $17 for a secretary’s text message telling me my attorney would call me * Over $50 for a letter related to rescheduling mediation * Approximately $1,100 for “mediation preparation” when I experienced little to no preparation at all As a single mother who has been fighting for her son for years, I left this experience feeling financially and emotionally devastated. What hurt the most was feeling like my fear, stress, and desperation during the worst period of my life became billable opportunities rather than something handled with genuine care or urgency. I understand attorneys deserve to be paid for their work. I also understand that not every case is easy. But if a firm does not believe in a client’s case, does not want to litigate aggressively, or believes a matter will be too difficult, they should be honest about that from the beginning so the client can seek representation elsewhere. At the end of the day, I did not feel fought for, protected, or prioritized. I felt taken advantage of at a time when my son’s well-being and my future as a mother were on the line.

Avoid at all costs

Lolita was my attorney through my divorce and acted as if she represented my ex husband, with his best interests in mind. I had to fight with her to not let my ex husband get money from the sale of my house, even when he agreed to take nothing. I had to fight her to get the child support amount above... $200 for both kids, because she wanted to just take his word for how much money he made, instead of checking pay stubs. I’m not sure where any of the good reviews came from because I also came across several others who also had issues.

The best Family Attorney

I highly recommend Attorney Beyah for handling all family matters. She is thorough, attentive to her clients' needs, and gets the job done. Before going to court, I was quite nervous, but she guided us through the process and explained what to expect from the judge. There were no surprises in court. ...If you're looking for excellent legal representation, I recommend Tessa Edwards Law Firm in Atlanta and suggest asking for Attorney Beyah.
