Replied last November 14, 2023This “review” is malicious, inaccurate and defamatory except for: 1. Her son's charges are very serious (Top 7 of Georgia worst crimes); 2. The fee which was 30K less what she was quoted by another attorney prior to her calling me. However she is not telling the truth about the following: Bond Hearing: Her son had a bond hearing (AND Probable Cause hearing). His mother was there. I got him on a calendar weeks earlier. I brought in co-counsel with 53 years of experience to join the team at no extra charge to my client. The judge denied bond because of his history and his charges. Communication: I had multiple conversations with my client and updated his mother as a courtesy and promptly returned calls and answered questions. I represented him in each court hearing, visited him in jail multiple times (once with a private room viewing hours of video footage) and I continued to negotiate with the prosecutor for the best outcome. When I was in court for other cases that was not an excuse not to talk to her, it is just a fact and I promptly followed up to her phone calls on the same day. Fee: I invested much time in obtaining a large volume of discovery. I reviewed it, took it to the jail, reviewed it with my client, discussed strategy, options and preparation for trial. While, the terms of the agreement warranted no money back. In good faith I offered to give her money in hopes of amicably parting ways. She threatened to “go online and destroy me” if I didn’t give her more. She said, “my son is in limbo, no trial, no probation, no bond hearing”: a) Bond hearing (and probable cause) is addressed above. b) Probation begins after sentencing which had not happened yet. c) Her son wanted me to continue to negotiate a plea for the best outcome. He DID NOT want a trial yet until negotiations were completed. This “review” comes from a mother who is in California and not here to see the day to day work done for her son. This case ready for trial if the client wanted to go that route if he wanted to “prove his innocence” according to his mother. He did not want a trial at that juncture. There was no reason for her to be upset when I was doing everything for her son. I was working as hard on his case as I do for all my clients.
