Peter Alex Rivner

I have waited for nearly two years to write this review for my divorce to be final. I have never met a service professional of any kind who speaks to his clients the way Peter spoke to and treated me. He is a terrible listener whose default method of reaction to disagreement is to yell and attack. ... It was impossible to have a conversation with this lawyer and accomplish any real understanding. He would react to questions (centered on my attempts to understand matters) with abrasive and threatening language. On multiple occasions he spoke to me in a tone that was at or near yelling, frequently interrupted me in conversation and threatened me repeatedly. He never once seemed to care or be concerned with the details that were important to me. In many cases he gave me what would prove to be inappropriate legal advice regarding the complex issues in our case . The actions that he did take on my case including one motion filing ended up being strategically harmful or at least unhelpful. In terms of being a lawyer to de-escalate my case, he did the opposite. He made this case much worse. He refused to employ any tactics or strategies to help me get the case settled which caused the case to ultimately prolong 2 1/2years. After a few months with him, and during a phone call where he was raising his voice unprofessionally and threatening me (as I wanted him to slow down and explain his strategy), I gave him three warnings that if he continued to raise his voice and threaten me that I would terminate the call. Eventually, I did. He called me back several times thereafter and I refused to answer. Later that week, we parted ways. During the transition, he unreasonably held files and did not give them to my new attorney and shared inappropriate details with opposing counsel about his termination (which were partly distorted and false to make him look better). This is not a lawyer I would want to see on either side of a case because he has terrible listening skills, is completely unprofessional and abrasive (even to his clients) and unreasonably prolongs the pain of divorce by focusing on a trial at the expense of any effort toward settlement.

When I finally made the decision to divorce my husband after almost 25 years, I was an emotionally abused woman who no longer resembled the professional woman I had once been. My ex-husband controlled all the finances and I didn't know where to start. I asked some highly regarded Professionals in the... Atlanta area and was given his name repeatedly. Peter listened to me but then got around to focusing on what was and wasn't important for my case. He always responded in a timely matter and went above and beyond while also instilling confidence me that everything was going to be ok. HE was better than ok. He is to the point but also very empathetic. He did a wonderful job in getting me the settlement I didn't realize I could ever get. I can not recommend Peter enough. Thank you Peter for being the best lawyer I could ever have had!

Peter did an excellent job representing me in a case several years back. To this day, I am thankful and grateful to have had him on my side! He was a wonderful attorney to work with during the process, as he was kind and a great listener. I have had to get in touch on several occasions, since the end... of the trial, and Peter has been nothing but understanding and has always offered sound legal advise. I came out a stronger individual and I can honestly thank Peter in that aspect!

I don’t think Peter fully grasped how convoluted my case would be when he took me on as a client. There where twists and turns at every step in the way, which he literally had to search for legal precedent from around the country. Issues came up with how to work with arbitration clauses, that house t...hat was joint titled with my ex’s parents, and a host of other issues. Peter not only did his homework, he demonstrated his brilliance on navigating the complexities and coming to a settlement that we all felt was fair and equitable. To be honest, at times I didn’t make things any easier for him, yet he was able to effectively ensure things all got straightened out, with much patients pragmatism and wisdom. Perhaps the greatest asset of having Peter as my lawyer was when he did not allow me to make certain compromises, showing how capitulating to certain demands made by my ex and her family while on the surface would seem to be not a problem but left room to open a pandora’s box of legal issues in the future. His guidance and sensibility not only helped me through the legal side of things but greatly assisted with helping get through this difficult chapter in my life with dignity and grace. I would highly recommend Peter and his firm in the unfortunate times when divorce is necessary.
