Waste of Time /Would NOT recommend

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME: I drove about an hour to meet with one of the Attorneys at the Dekalb Family Law Center and although in October 2018 my experience with one of the employees (brown women, cropped short haircut and eyeglasses) was an extremely positive one, I am unable to say the same going for...ward.. The Family Law Center charges a $20 fee and is supposed to assist Pro Se individuals within a 30 minute timeframe Unfortunately, this was not the case. I arrived on time for my 2:30PM appointment but was taken back 12 minutes after (2:42PM). As a result, the Attorneys actually count that time against you while also wasting your time in an attempt to talk over you, fast talk you, (epic fail) and attempt to make you second guess yourself. I came prepared, notes, paperwork and all in efforts of making the absolute best out of the 30 minutes. However, my ability to be prepared was obviously intimidating to Attorney Donald S. Horace who treated me with such disrespect and was also condescending... He even asked me a question and when I answered the question TRUTHFULLY this guy basically told me I was lying! Whenever I asked questions to gain a clear understanding of something, this guy who carried himself in a very feminine manner which is PERFECTLY FINE until he allowed his lifestyle to interfere with the service in which he was supposed to provide.. Clearly, he expected me to conduct myself like the individuals of the Dekalb demographic that frequent the Magistrate/Superior Courts. Unfortunately, it’s safe to assume he’s use to meeting with of all sorts of people from ALL walks of life when volunteering or donating his time to the Dekalb Family Law Center and found that my assertiveness, self-preparation, confidence, tone and strength was intimidating to his male /female nature.. Donald Horace was so busy trying to use my meeting time to pitch himself as an Attorney, ALTHOUGH they don’t represent you instead of being effective during the limited amount of time.. After telling me that he didn’t believe me, once I answered his question he felt sooooo foolish after having read my Temporary Order and again, I note he felt soooooo foolish because my Temporary Order not only validated the “honest” response I gave him but also answered his own question as well as more. This guy looked like pie was slammed in his face after reading my Temporary Order.. I told him very confidently that not every person or case is the same so he should make sure that he’s not treating EVERYONE the same. Donald wasted so much time, he gave me one piece of advice, took 5 minutes to write it out and then had the audacity to ask me to give it back! I refused and told him to give me my $20 back if he wanted anything back from me. Donald S. Horace is a JOKE! And quite frankly so is the Family Law Center. Thank God I’m a strong, intelligent, praying WOMAN-rather than weak, classless and uneducated because my experience was terrible, discouraging and simply a waste of time. The Attorneys don’t want to help you, they give you (one) piece of advice or guidance, and think that they’ve actually helped you. They don’t want you to ask them questions or possess any basic knowledge of the legal system at all. Again, Donald Horace was horrible! He even asked me how much my home was worth, debt etc.. And while this is acceptable when being represented by an Attorney it had nothing to do with my meeting. He was perhaps being nosey in an attempt to calculate my income/net worth.. Only he knows.. He was simply wasting and dragging time with all of those unnecessary questions. This guy/gal ended my meeting 10 minutes before hand and is a pathetic resource. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone, ever. If I were an Attorney I would never treat people with such disrespect, unprofessionalism and rudeness.
