Untrustworthy, Stay Away

This lawyer accepted my case and then decided to drop it when he moved firms. He never bothering to contact me about his move or his decision to drop my case. When I called to follow-up he proceeded to tell me I did not have a strong case, which was the opposite of what was said before he decided to ...leave his firm. Questionable character, inconsiderate, lack of follow-through. My sincere suggestion would be to continue looking and stay away.

Many times at the onset of an employment/wrongful termination case, in a strong effort to get the lawyer to take the case, the client tells the lawyer his/her version of the story most favorable to him/her. The client omits vital information that might make the lawyer decline representation. In those circumstances, because the lawyer wishes to help the client, the lawyer takes on the case. Once the lawyer does his/her due diligence & later learns that the case is no longer viable because of the client's misrepresentations, the lawyer then must cease representation. This is what transpired in your case. While I'm sorry that you were not happy with the outcome of your representation, perhaps you should consider that the next time you contact a lawyer, you tell him/her the whole truth so that the lawyer may make a fully informed decision about undertaking representation. As to your assertion that you were not contacted when I left Joye Law Firm (a firm which one may Google & read over one dozen favorable reviews about me), that, too, is untrue. All clients of mine whom I represented at Joye Law Firm were contacted both by Joye Law Firm & by me, personally. Those clients for whom I continued representation at my present firm have all seen their cases conclude with favorable results.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
