I didn't check reviews!
The rudest most unprofessional and laziest lawyer I have ever experienced! When stationed at Camp Lejuene more than 15 years ago I got a ticket before deployment to Iraq. I since returned and left North Carolina forgetting about the ticket. After getting a license from two separate states I moved t...
You hired us to handle a traffic ticket that you ignored for 15 years - we did that. You did not hire us to restore your driving privilege, you were told in no uncertain terms, we don't handle DMV matters and that you needed to make arrangements to pay your own reinstatement fee. Then you basically cried, then were rude and by your own admission - hung up on us (likely to go to your safe space) because I wasn't taking any of your crap. My firm does not coddle or kowtow to rude, entitled people like other businesses or law firms may do because they are afraid of bad reviews. Generally, you get what you give in this world and this is as it should be. When you act like a jerk to us - we are going to treat you accordingly. Anyone hiring a lawyer should not want one who sucks up to rude people like you and anyone reading your review ought to ignore it.

Very unhappy
I retained The Houser Law Firm to complete my divorce. My experience with the Houser Law Firm has been as bad as it can be. I asked for a refund of services not yet provided because I was deeply dissatisfied with the rude manner I was being treated. This refund policy is plainly stated on their websi...
You are a liar - you accused us of fraud and stealing from you on a Google review - accusations which you knew and have since admitted were untrue. A review which you promptly edited after we informed you we'd lake legal action. You are also an outright liar here as well. You know full well why you have not received a refund - yet you try and make it seem like its our fault and not yours. You were told we can not yet give you a refund because you informed us you have made fraud complaints to your bank / financial institution and we now can not refund your money until that is resolved. Your have caused all these problems yourself because you are simply one of those trifling, awful people in the world that businesses have to deal with once in a while. So basically, you deserve to be unhappy and your review ignored..

Awful
I would most certainly not recommend her to anyone what so ever. She was nice at first when my husband met her but after that we couldn't get ahold of her at all. She was either busy or not in her office. We've had our case go on for 7 months now and we can't get ahold of her to find anything out abo...
Any real client who has a legitimate concern that they wanted a resolution to would have left their name instead of posting anonymously. Why good / purpose does posting anonymously serve unless you are either lying or at least exaggerating? So basically, the reliability of this review is dubious at best because there is no way to look into your claims, correct any problems or even know if you or your husband are actual clients. However, as to your first issue regarding the DWI case taking 7 months - this is not unusual at all. Any DWI attorney can verify this for you and moreover it would have been explained to your husband at the initial meeting as part of the same speech I give to every DWI client. Regarding the second issue, we are very good about returning calls, keeping our clients informed on the status of their case by e-mail, regular postal mail and / or phone. Your use of the word 'multiple' is vague at best, but if you mean you have called us more than twice and have not gotten a return call or response within at least the next 48 hours - you are either mistaken / exaggerating or out right lying. Feel free to post your husbands name so I can verify / address your concerns and I will respond to you personally.

Question on divorce papers
I sent a question to be answered and the answer I got back basically berated me. I was told that the question I asked made no sense and didn't describe the proper way to handle things. It said that we would be lucky if it went through and if we didn't know what we were doing we would "screw" ourselve...
I did not mean to berate you! If you mistook it that way, I sincerely apologize. However, your question truly and honestly made no sense at all and if you recall, I was not the only attorney that said that. No one expects you to know all the legal lingo and terminology but the way you were describing the way things were being done was incredibly far off base - even for a lay person! If things were done the way you described them, the divorce should not go through. Further, if you don't know what you are doing, you can really do some serious harm - I used the term 'screw yourself' because its a term most everyone understands to be a bad thing and because you had such a hard time accurately describing your situation I didn't want to compound the issue by being overly 'lawyerly'. Again, I'm sorry you felt the question was answered unprofessionally but I really wanted to convey to you how important it is that you consult with an attorney because while I certainly wish you the best, based on the way your question was worded - you will likely have a difficult time attempting to represent yourself.

Horrible!
Had a horrible experience with Amanda. She makes accusations and spent more time counseling me about things that were irrelevant than getting me answers to my problems. Shes obviously inexperienced and new to this profession (licensed 3 years). She will get no where fast and lose alot of potential...
This person is either mistaken or outright lying on this review - she did not hire our firm, we handled no legal work for her and she has never been a client. I responded to her question posted here on Avvo and tried my best to help her. I explained to her as best I could that a good lawyer does not 'read between the lines' and that the best results come from full information and dealing with facts and not her assumptions which were the basis of quite a few incorrect beliefs about the law and her situation. When someone's beliefs are called into question - they sometimes take offense. I did apologize if she took any offense and explained that I was just doing my best to help. This was just simply an instance where this person wasn't happy to be told things may not turn out the way she believes they will.
"The answers of Ms. Johnson are consistently accurate, full of analysis, and customized to the needs of the Avvo askers. These are exactly the qualities that every client would look for in an attorney."
"I endorse this lawyer. Ms. Houser's answers on Avvo indicate she is a highly knowledgeable speeding ticket attorney."
"Ms. Houser takes a 'no-frills', 'no-holds-barred' approach to practicing law. She gives her clients the unvarnished truth of their situations and works from there. I endorse this lawyer for her "plain truth' approach."
"I endorse this lawyer. Attorney Bowden Houser is one of the finest attorney in her state, I highly recommend her legal services"
"I endorse this lawyer. I personally look forward to reading Ms. Houser's responses to questions on Avvo because her no-nonsense practical contributions are often helpful, even to other attorneys. She is a top flight lawyer."
"Ms Houser applies a no nonsense approach to analyzing the legal problems of her clients. She gets no pleasure from talking over your head or wasting time with legal concepts which may or may not apply. Ms. Houser wants to get to the point and resolve her client's issues as efficiently as possible."
"Although I do not know Ms. Houser personally, I have read her answers on this site from people writing in with legal questions. Her responses are concise and well thought out and certainly beneficial to those asking questions and there I can endorse Ms. Houser as an attorney."
"Amanda has a wonderful "take no prisoners" attitude which enables her to tell the unvarnished truth to her clients. She is a skilled advocate, knows the law, and has the ability to powerfully represent her clients and win cases. I endorse this lawyer. She has great instincts, and from her responses to questions on this website and others, gives of herself in a public forum in a manner which does credit to our profession. I respect and value her as a colleague. You should respect her as an Attorney."
