Highly Recommended Employment Lawyer, Great Experience!

After thorough research for the right lawyer to take my case, I found Phil Gibbons, and without reservation, I highly recommend him! I spoke to him in depth about my case over the phone then met with him. He gave my case the attention I felt it deserved which concluded with the desired settlement r...esults. His fee structure was certainly fair and worth it. He simply took the time needed to listen to me and to learn the intricate details to ensure he had complete knowledge of my particular case. If you are looking to secure a lawyer to represent you, don't hesitate to call Phil Gibbons.

Absolute Worse Hire

I hired this firm in July 2018 to (1) amend an existing lawsuit and (2) negotiate a settlement. The firm did not do the job for which they was hired. I never met the attorney in person and we only spoke on the phone twice over a year's time. The firm eventually negotiated a settlement with my form...er employer, but made a bad situation worse by padding their bill (inflated hours) which allowed them to receive excessive fees. Our contingency agreement allowed up to 40% of gross settlement, but the attorney fees added up to 46%.(extra $2500). I explained that I'm unemployed, but the firm stood their ground. Based on my personal experience, I would never hire this firm again, even if my life depended on it!

Although my law firm obtained a very favorable settlement for a former client, I received this review after this individual threatened she would harm my reputation if my law firm did not pay her money. We refused. Although the review was posted “anonymously,” a federal court Judge issued a written decision approving the settlement this former client complains about, including the amount of attorney’s fees paid to my law firm. See Sharon Blackmon v. Cohen, et. al., 2020 WL 91914 (MDNC Jan. 8, 2020). The Judge’s decision contains a detailed discussion explaining why the settlement terms are fair and reasonable. The lawsuit involved the alleged failure to pay overtime wages. The Judge found that: “the settlement amount of $11,625.00 for unpaid overtime wages and $11,625.00 for liquidated damages represents approximately 93% of her estimated unpaid overtime and liquidated damages over the three-year period preceding the lawsuit.” The client received 100% of this money – the attorney’s fees paid to my law firm were paid separately. Regarding the legal work performed on behalf of this client, the Judge stated: “having attorneys skilled in FLSA litigation, particularly at least one attorney who has served as lead counsel in numerous federal wage and hour disputes, was crucial to obtaining relief for Blackmon – 93% of her estimated unpaid overtime work for the three years preceding this lawsuit.” Regarding attorney’s fees, the Court found: “there is no reason to reduce counsel’s requested fees. First, there are no unsuccessful claims. . . Next, counsel themselves have already significantly reduced their fees – from $33,400 to $19,750 – to facilitate settlement. Accordingly, their requested fees and costs are reasonable.” Bottom line, we obtained a great result for this former client. She received $23,250 (approximately 93% of the total amount possible if we won a jury trial) and my law firm received $19,750 (which is a significant reduction of the total fees we billed to the case). I do not deserve the review posted above and disagree with what was written. Luckily, you do not have to decide who is telling the truth because a federal court decision sets the record straight.

Wage Dispute Issue with Former Employer

I consulted Phil Gibbons regarding a wage dispute with my former employer. As a novice to this, I had a lot of questions. He was very patient and walked me through each step of the litigation. He has a vast knowledge of the employment marketplace in Indiana and worked quickly with my former employer ...to reach a fair solution. I would certainly recommend anyone having issues with unpaid wages to give him a call.

lawyer you wN

I am from Kentucky and I had a previous employer that owed back wages through the Labor Boardthe Labor Board wasn't doing much about it so I came across Gibbons legal grouptalked with him and he took on my case all done on contingencywell needless to say no sooner than he took the case my previous em...ployer filed bankruptcy Mr Gibbons stuck with it motion after motion was filedhe dealt with the case for over a year keeping me informed throughout the whole timeI never met the man but I think he is an awesome lawyer he does a great job with my case we ended up winning got money back he took care of that right away and I really felt bad for him because he took the case without knowing about any bankruptcy and I know he had a lot more paperwork than what he plan on doingI even offered to split the amount within 50 50 and he told me know he would keep his word and do the original dealso I was very very satisfied with him in the results that he got so Mr Gibbons thanks again I appreciate all the time and effort you put in my case

Attorney Gibbons

Atty Phil Gibbons Jr. is in my opinion the best attorney for getting your legal matters resolved in a professional and timely fashion. It is pretty hard to find a good lawyer that will take you by the hand without getting into the legal terminology that only they understand. Phil has from the begin...ning explained the process in plain English and answered all of my questions before, during and after my case. Because of his expertise, I was able relax, sit back and WIN my case with no worries. It was truly nice to have met and worked with Mr. Gibbons! I would say to anyone that needs legal counsel, you will not find anyone more true and pationnate in the law profession. Thank you Phil for all of your hard work on my behalf...... J.C.-Indianapolis

"I endorse Phil Gibbons strongly. I have known Phil for about three years. He was opposing counsel in a significant matter. I won in the lower courts. He won in the Indiana Supreme Court. He is a real advocate for his clients. Phil is a common sense lawyer who is not interested in wasting time or money. He works in a productive manner to achieve what his clients need. Phil has a special knowledge and understanding of the law in the field of employee rights that I have seldom seen in other lawyers. I personally would be confident in referring an employee rights case to him, knowing the person referred would be well represented"
