Time and money - wasted !

I never willingly hired him in the first place. I hired his colleague, but after taking my retainer, suddenly she was "too busy" and he was shoved onto my case. From the start I knew he was wrong for the job, but I was desperate. Huge mistake. Trusting him cost me dearly. He billed thousands but fil...ed nothing, and from what I could see, did nothing. He actually had the nerve to suggest I represent myself but pay him to “ghostwrite" Whoever heard of paying a lawyer so you can represent yourself ?! I fired him, hired an amazing replacement then fought his bloated, error-ridden bill. I got some of my money back but it was nothing compared to what he cost me and my family in lost time. Zero stars if that were an option.

Billable hour$ - 3 law firms in 2 years says a lot

When I met Attorney Finney, he was attentive and took a lot of notes and assured me I was entitled to spousal support and alimony. I came in prepared with all the paperwork/ proof of everything that I had found out about my ex and their activities. I explained in detail to Attorney Finney the unbelie...vable ordeal I had been through prior to our meeting. After the initial consultation (fee), papers are signed, and I paid (fee) for Finney to represent me. Two weeks after paying thousands of dollars to retain Finney, paperwork filed downtown. I got a call Finney was leaving this firm, huh, what. The paperwork has been submitted. WHEN YOU ARE GOING THROUGH A DIVORCE YOU DON’T WANT YOUR ATTORNEY MOVING OFFICES, WHY because it costs YOU to REFILE the same paperwork. I do not know if all 28 clients came with him to the new firm, but I do know. That is a lot of work without a paralegal. Finney needs more knowledge on handling divorce cases, but divorces pay better. There has no happy ending, Finney refused to work on my case but got thousands of dollars out of me and didn't have to say much. I truly feel this was about money.

Poor representation

I hired Attorney Finney for a child custody case. He initially took interest in my case and took time to listen to and understand my expectations. But pretty quickly, his approach and interest took a nosedive. Soon I was in the middle of a law firm transition which was handled very unprofessionally.... When I contacted his previous law firm for more information on alternative attorneys for ongoing representation, he somehow knew that I was looking for alternative representation and told me that would take more time and delay my case. I was not informed that continuing my representation with him as he moved to a different law firm would require me to pay a second retainer fee. I ended up paying two retainer fees and thousands of dollars on top of it. Not only was I drafting my own legal responses, and correcting multiple errors in legal correspondence but also advocating for myself all the while being charged an obscene amount of money even for reading a two sentence email asking for an update (when there were no updates). When my case was finally closed after an unnecessary 2 month delay, I did not even get a final courtesy email/correspondence from him. Extremely disappointing experience for a very tough personal situation in which I lost everything.

Stay Away

I hired Mr. Finney after he gave me false promises. He made a lot of mistakes which he did not take responsibility for. He created problems, charged me for creating and solving them. He was very unresponsive, incompetent, and charged me ridiculous fees for it. He dumped me in the middle of divorce af...ter he put me in a lot of legal problems. Hire a lawyer who is interested in protecting your rights and representing you.
