Unprofessional

Going through a custody battle has to be one of the hardest things a parent could go through. Although, Liz did file my paperwork I expressed numerous times I wasn’t comfortable with signing the custody agreement. I just wasn’t confident my needs were being addressed. After stating this the response ...was what else do you want me to do, this is a good agreement, this is reasonable and I feel he’s being fair. To work with a lawyer you want to feel they’re on your side just not collecting a check. I was often asked for last min conversation around 5pm and if I didn’t respond quickly I was told it’s late can we discuss this tomorrow. A very unpleasant way to end a Friday or any day when your going through a court case and unprofessional. I wish I stood up for myself more because I honestly feel my lawyer was more friendly and respectful of the other party than me. The paperwork was signed and they were phone numbers that should have been provided or emails. Medical was listed in my agreement but Liz did not go over this info or provide information on what the other parent was responsible to pay. These things should’ve been clear and mapped out. Long story short after the paperwork was signed the other parent did his part as far as visitation goes but nothing else was followed. This left me going back and fourth with his lawyer asking what should be paid and of course his lawyer could care less about him following his part because why would she. She’s not my lawyer. I was unsatisfied with everything and when I reached out to Liz. I was told I fought for you what else did you want me to do? I clearly stated everything that made me nervous to sign the agreement is what I’m experiencing now. The other parent signed the agreement but only follows areas they want to. I explained a follow up conversation on what to expect next would be nice or if the order isn’t followed how should I move forward. I also asked what if I wanted to use you as my lawyer again? Needless to say she never responded.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
