No Help At All

Everything was fine until the decision from the judge, Brian Ricci asked me to appeal my case because the Judge made serious errors in judgement regarding my case. When I went to trial Brian Ricci did not have all the doctors' documentation because they failed to get my mental documentation from my... psychiatrist. I actually had to go in myself to get that documentation and send it to Brian Ricci. He then referred me to another lawyer group to handle my appeal. They denied me. Brian Ricci said to me and my wife that if no one would take the case he personally would pursue it. That never happened. Now I am looking for representation for my appeal by myself. I am disappointed. They totally dropped the ball.

Failed me during representation SSD

His firm represented me for my SSD appeal. Their website advertisement attracted me when it stated, their firm is one of the few firms, that will fight for you all the way to civil district court. I learned this is far from true! During my hearing with ALJ, that denial was filled with Errors of laws....We appealed for a review with the Review council whom, as usual, refused to review the denial. Again, I had a multitude of 100% proof their were issues of fact not considered. The ALJ judge specifically stated in denial that I asserted one of the diagnosis of __________ but claimant does not have a ct scan proving this" which was false, records show the judge had that CT scan. Their were a slew of other bonefide errors , yet, when i informed Ricci Law firm I wanted to appeal to district court, I was told by my attorney with the firm, he doesnt have a great deal experience with the federal level and suggested I find another firm. Yet again, they state they are one of few firms that will take your case to the federal level but then tell you to go elsewhere! A law firm should believe in their clients disability 100% so much so, they should believe in you enough to go all the way, if their is a shadow of a doubt when client signs on, the firm should tell them so. My moto is, "your either with me 100% or against me - I need to know the percentage you believe in me"?..They failed. NOW, that they have released me, getting another firm to take on where they left off in order to go to district court. IVE CALLED 20 firms and i get, "sorry, not interested", after of course I told them I "had" a firm handling my case to this point. No other firm wants to take left overs from another firm so now im screwed! And I have them to blame.

With all due respect, a lawyer works on a "contingent fee" when he takes a SSDI or work comp case. He has to evaluate the chances of winning the case, and getting paid, against the odds of losing, and working for free. Lawyers have overhead bills to pay as well, so they cannot take on contingent fee cases that are not winnable. When a lawyer refuses to take on a contingent fee case, just remember that the lawyer is refusing to work for no compensation on what he thinks will be a losing case.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
