James Raymond McMinn

I was blessed with this attorney’s name when I was in court asking for a continuance for 12 charges –all misdemeanors however all carried jail time and/or current & future employment consequences. Although James advised that he planned to get the charges dropped; my faith only allowed me to hope for... a consolidation of all of them to maybe only one charge. James spoke to me decisively and professionally from my first communication as well as represented me in my absence on one court date. On subsequent court dates; James keep me informed of expectations including options, timings and his legal opinion as well a calling me to confirm my attendance and plans on the eve of the final court date. During trial, James encountered duel opposition from the prosecutor as well as the witness. When I say that James literally “threw the book” at the Judge, he did just that— citing from a law that has been on the books since the 1800 as well as presenting the legal manual from where he did his research. After this, the prosecutor had no arguments against his motion to dismiss ALL charges and neither could the Judge find any argument.. Result—DISMISS ALL CHARGES. 10 out of 10 stars if I could and I trust I will never need him again however if I get a jay walking citation; my next call will be to James McMinn. He will get the job done in your favor. My advice would be to hire him prior to your accuser hiring him.

James Mcminn is not only friendly, couragous and keeps in constant contact if you need him to, but he's brilliant and will find the best possible course of action for your case and for much lower costs than anyone around. I search dozens of lawyers in the Triad area and they all wanted me to plead gu...ilty and to help my sentence be lenient, and charged more than McMinn. McMinn took three cases for me at once for a fraction of the cost of another lawyer who said to plead guilty, and got them ALL dismissed. He literally saved my life and you would be wasting time and money anywhere else.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been involved in the insurance profession for over 20 years and have dealt with literally hundreds of attorneys in 5 states, I have never dealt with a more honest or hard working attorney than Mr. McMinn. I recently had a need for an attorney r...esulting from an incident that a vehicle that I own was involved in a hit & run accident, I hired McMinn based on his excellent reputation in the Winston-Salem court system, which is where my case was being heard. I won't go into the full details but I charged for not providing the details of the accident that I wasn't even involved (other than owning the vehicle) and was treated unfairly by the officer and needed an experienced attorney that really understood the law and could provide sound counsel. Mr.McMinn exceeded my expectations! He gave me his personal cell phone and answered every call / text over the course of the 6 months that it took my case to be resolved. He advised me of all the possible scenarios and was never condescending or made me feel dumb when asking questions. He fought for nearly 6 months to get my case dismissed which was the right thing, vs pleading. This took significantly more time/effort on his part but he was adamant that was what should be done. I can honestly say that Mr. McMinn is the best attorney in Winston-Salem for me and if you need an attorney that is going to really fight for you and your best interest, I think he is the best attorney in Winston-Salem for you too! He was concerned about doing the right thing vs just how much money he would make on my case. That was refreshing to me and is why I felt the need to write this review. I wish all attorneys treated their clients like James McMinn treated me. 5 stars++

I can’t recommend Mr. McMinn highly enough. He is an effective and efficient criminal defense attorney who is as friendly with his clients as he is aggressive in court. He will go above and beyond on your behalf. He knows the law inside out and thinks outside the box, finding angles that others will ...not, while also being accessible, making you feel at ease, and explaining everything in clear, down-to-earth terms. Mr. McMinn will fight for, and achieve, the best possible outcome, which, in our case, was getting our minor son’s charge dismissed without conditions. Should we ever need an attorney again, be it for a serious or a minor matter, we know he is the person to call. Many lawyers are competent, but few are as engaged, passionate and creative: he will present a unique, relentless and fierce defense for any case, and he has the skills to win it. I was charged for a car wreck in which multiple charges were applied with no evidence except for myself actually being at the scene. James was very professional and precise. He always called me back and gave me positive feedback and or atleast had an optimistic outlook on things. Even when things are...n't looking so good for you it's always good to have a positve person in your corner and giving you excellent advice. I was confident all the way through my trial because James was very knowlegeable of the laws and the different judges. He applied for a speedy and fair trial after about our 3rd appearance. In the end this small but strategically placed motion was what in the end resulted in my case being dissmissed and not having to pay thousands of my hard earned money to the city of Winston-Salems court sytems. If you need and honest affirmative to the point lawyer, in your corner this is the man you need to have counsel you! I could never thank James enough for his hard work and perserverance to shine light on the truth and be a strong professional in the midst of a complicated court system.
