About W. Scott

Learn W. Scott’s areas of practice.

My law practice focuses primarily on high stakes litigation. I represent businesses and individuals in State and Federal courts. In recent years, I achieved favorable verdicts in some of the most notorious fraud cases in modern North Carolina history, including a $ million contract fraud case, the UNC athlete agent scandal, and a multi-million-dollar Ponzi scheme. In 2018, I became a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in state criminal law.

My philosophy is to be fully engaged in the representation of my clients. I will communicate candidly, prepare thoroughly, and advocate zealously. This is my promise.

Phenomenal 5-Star Rating no question!!!
First of all In my personal opinion Scott is as good as a Human being as he is as a Lawyer!! And that’s saying a lot because he is 100% QB1 in his Line of work! I can’t thank him enough I was facing two-Felonies, never been in any type of trouble-in my entire life, I emailed Scott and explained everything from. Beginning to end I prayed he would be my Lawyer because he was my 1st Choice and only choice because I felt that no one else came close to being as talented as Scott!! First time I met Scott and Brief description of myself is I am “White Collar”!! Been in Manufacturing for 20 plus years, raising four grandchildren, him and I came from different sides of the track BUT he treated me like I was as important as anyone else that mint more to me than anything because he did not have to take my case but he did and I am forever thankful To “Harkey Litigation’s”!!! And to Mr. Scott Harkey!!!

Awesome lawyer, great experience!
Scott came highly recommend from a family friend and right from the start I could see why. He was overall just amazing to work with. Scott was compassionate, understanding, and most importantly he listened. He confidently helped me handle a situation seamlessly from an entirely different state, and at a price that was MORE than fair. Call him FIRST!!

Dismissed is possible
Mr Harley was very courteous. He made sure that I and him had a common plan, that got fulfilled by the Judges verdict: dismissal!

Criminal defense Attorney | Jun 17
Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
"I had the pleasure of working with Scott during his tenure as a Financial Crimes Prosecutor. In my 10+ years of practice as a criminal defense attorney, I can honestly say that I have yet to work with a prosecutor with more integrity, intelligence, and desire to do the right thing, which is administer justice not just win. Scott was never one to rush to judgement or focus solely on securing a conviction. Many prosecutors abuse the power their position yields them, but Scott was not that type of prosecutor. Rather, Scott was always open to discussion, assessing the discovery/evidence from an objective view, and ensuring he did the right thing even if it meant dismissing charges. Now that he has transitioned to criminal defense, he will be nothing short of an asset to the defense bar, and more importantly his clients."
