Dana Sheppard Power

I initially saw Ms. Power back in 2017 to discuss my business bankruptcy. She advised me that most of my debt was personal, or if business, had been guaranteed by me. She advised me to file personally rather than corporately. I paid a retainer, and then kind of disappeared for a couple of years. ...When I went back to begin the actual proceedings in 2020, she still had all my paperwork and we were able to pick up where we left off. She has a large office, so even with Covid we were able to meet in person and social distance, while wearing masks, of course. I had my telephonic meeting with the trustee today and everything went very smoothly, thanks to her great preparation. I cannot recommend Ms. Power highly enough. She knows what she's doing and is very professional, but also kind and compassionate. I originally selected her because of her excellent reviews on AVVO, and I am very pleased that I did.

I entered into a Chapter 13 by choice, even though I qualified for a chapter 7. Dana Power was supportive and, after reviewing my options with me, followed through with my decision. At no time was I made to feel judged or looked down upon. Any questions I had or issues that developed over the next fe...w years Dana and staff were always available in a timely fashion to handle a difficulty or instruct me in how to respond. I have strongly recommended Dana when asked if I knew of a good Bankruptcy attorney and would gladly do so again.

Dana and her supporting team were absolutely phenomenal. I was drowning in compounding IRS debt, soaring hospital bills, credit card debt that was increasing due to a current garnishment from a underserving Slumlord(lawyer) for $8000. ( I had co-signed for a girlfriend 10 years ago and was never re...leased from it when the relationship absolved even though they initially said they did). It was $500 per paycheck being taken. The IRS and State each had garnishments prior to that for $5000 . I was literally pinching pennies to go to work and keep my household afloat. It felt like I was working backwards with no relief in sight. Dana listened to me and was empathetic to my situation. She explained to me how I could recoup the money from the current garnishment, resolve some IRS and STATE tax debt, but my compliance had to be timely. I completed the classes suggested, pulled credit reports and listed all creditors, their account numbers and addresses I could find. What addresses I didn't have, her team found. She and her office was in constant communication with me. WOW!!! That feeling that someone is on your team and is a home run hitter lifted so much weight off my chest. I had the utmost confidence in her. My bankruptcy was filed prior my next court date with the slumlord. It was too close to mail the BR petition to the court so I had to take there. To my surprise, the slumlord lawyer had picked up the checks early without going through the court process. I announced to the court and the lawyer about my bankruptcy and that the checks in his possession should left with the court to go to my "trustee". The Lawyer walked out with the checks anyway. I felt my blood pressure atop my head. I called Dana like a girlfriend calls her big bad boyfriend to beat someone up. She said she would handle it. I gave her the name and phone number and without question, SHE HANDLED IT! The checks were sent out shortly thereafter. I pitched her the ball, and she's KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!!! I begin this process in Virginia when I had a job was doing great and wasn't sure it was right for me. However I wanted a home and wanted to live comfortable. From the first meeting I hired her, Ms. Powers made me feel so happy and relaxed and I was convinced of a fresh start. Then it happened everyt...hing fell apart all of a sudden I was getting a divorce, had lost my job, lost my car and about to lose my home. It came to a point when I lost everything and decided to relocate to Arkansas, before I moved I knew I wanted to finish this with Ms. Powers. I refused to start with anyone else. I talked with her and since I had paid my retainer fee I could continue. Finally I moved, got a job and paid it off. Within a month I had my meeting, telephonic, and got it all done. When i started my credit score was in the high 400's , it now in the high 500's. I don't have any more collection agency s calling, or tracking me down. I have a car in my name, 2 credit cards, although they are secured its still a good feeling. Most of my previous debt was from hospitals, doctors and household bills. I don't let those people in my life therefore I WONT go there again. I feel like I can and will have a home, its amazing to know how much credit means. I wish i had been taught a long time ago how to value my credit I have a second chance and Its all because of Ms. Powers. Thank you so much. I recommend her to anyone. It's a great feeling to have the ability to begin again and not feel like the bottom of the barrel is where you will always be. I was on my way out, i though of suicide just because of the low low feeling i had. Life has a way of knocking you down and all the way out, of the protection of God. Ms. Powers saved my life, she gave me a reason to start over and live, striving for something because I too could be renewed not just by God, but by my life. Don't let anything stop you from living your dream God is there on the spiritual side and Ms. Powers is there within this earthy realm.
