Emily Ann Martin

Emily A. Martin is an attorney at Carnegie Law Group in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she specializes in elder law, estate and trust administration, and long-term care planning. With a career spanning over a decade, Emily is dedicated to helping families navigate the complexities of protecting their assets and securing their futures, whether through Medicaid assistance, veterans' benefits, or life care planning.

As a recognized leader in her field, Emily currently serves as the Chair of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar. Her expertise is frequently sought after by the media; she has appeared on programs such as Coast Live, Hampton Roads Show, and WNIS 790AM to discuss critical issues like dementia diagnoses and estate administration. A prolific writer, she has contributed numerous articles to and other legal publications, covering topics ranging from nursing home contracts to the "grandparent scam."

Emily is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Elder Law at Stetson University College of Law She earned her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law and holds a B.A. in History, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Mary Washington. She is licensed to practice in both Virginia and North Carolina and is an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Deeply committed to her community, Emily serves as a member of the Pro Bono Panel for the Virginia Legal Aid Society and holds leadership roles in several local organizations, including the Suffolk Business Women and the Sawyer’s Mill Homeowner’s Association. Outside of her professional life, she is active in the Deep Creek Athletic Association and serves as the Treasurer for Tidewater Primitive Baptist Church.

Emily resides in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she remains a steadfast advocate for the rights and dignity of older Americans and individuals with disabilities.
