Steven David Stone

Mr. Stone took over my case after another lawyer failed to follow-through. After taking thousands of dollars as a retainer, Mr. Stone was verbally abusive and financially abusive. He seemed to be more interested in appeasing opposing counsel than representing me prior to trial and tried to force me... into a settlement agreement. I refused to settle. He was successful with my case at trial but then withdrew on the basis of the relationship between opposing counsel and their client.

My retainer was spent very quickly, his bills were vague as to where all the costs came from, and once my divorce was over, talking to my ex-wife it is clear Stone did NOT do most of what he charged me for. As far as I can tell all he did was drive up both her and my attorney fees. Do NOT hire this... man.

My opinion is this attorney lacked client and interpersonal skills--did not even offer the perfunctory handshake at initial meeting. Had two appointments, both delayed. General attitude was both unsatisfactory. Interactions were unpleasant. Argumentative. Impatient. Disrespectful. Rude. Also ...did not always remember details of prior conversations, despite taking notes. If not for the need of a timely solution and additional costs of starting over, I would have found another lawyer. He did what he was paid to do in the end (at 3x the initial estimate, and we were not informed of increasing costs—just expected to pay them) Did not meet my expectations. Professional demeanor was poor. For $500.00/hr, I expected better.
