Damon Dewayne Colbert

My grandson was at home this Thanksgiving and Christmas and has been at home for the past couple of Thanksgiving holidays even though Stafford County decided to charge him with several felonies, a few of which could have resulted in life imprisonment. If we didn’t have any money to pay Mr. Colbert..., my grandson would be behind bars right now. Initially, we hired a lawyer who advertises on Google. This prior lawyer talked to us nicely initially. After we paid this prior lawyer $15,000, the prior lawyer disappeared and ducked our phone calls. This prior lawyer sent an associate to do the legal work, and the associate did not do a good job. In fact, the associate put my grandson into a legal hole that Mr. Colbert eventually got him out of using a motion to suppress. When we decided to fire the prior lawyer, the prior lawyer decided to stop ducking our phone calls. The prior lawyer’s comments to us dripped with derision and condescension. The prior lawyer told us that we were “destroying [my grandson’s] life” and that “he will be in prison for life.” The prior lawyer wanted to know who we had hired. When I stated that we were going to hire Mr. Colbert, the prior lawyer went berserk and barked: “Do you know your grandson will be locked up for life if you go with that guy!” The prior lawyer also referred to my family and me as “you people.” From the first moment he stepped in court for my grandson, Mr. Colbert was one sharp brother. He fought, fought, fought——and then he fought some more. At every court appearance, he displayed talent and skill. My grandson was to have two jury trials, one for each alleged victim. Mr. Colbert used a motion to suppress to get one jury trial dropped. My grandson then went through a full-blown jury trial with Mr. Colbert by his side. It was amazing to watch. At the halfway point, Mr. Colbert persuaded the judge to dismiss a charge that was punishable by life imprisonment. Ultimately, all of the remaining charges were dropped. During this time of Thanksgiving, and Christmas, I am grateful that Mr. Colbert took the time to work with us. He fought for my grandson like my grandson was his kin. He was a complete breath of fresh air after the “you people” treatment we received from that prior lawyer.

I had legal concerns that were worrying me, I called his office and was told to he would call back shortly. Not even a minute went by that he called back. We spoke about my concerns , he handled them with great care and competence. His guidance through my concerns helped me by calming my nerves. This amazing attorney Damon Colbert was sent to me on a post card from God !!!! When I tell you the courts make me nervous but he assured me to let him do the worrying and fighting. My son was facing 2 charges of peeping in a dwelling and driving on a suspended license. Words can not express my gratitude and appreciation of Mr. Colbert. I am a disabled veteran and had an unfortunate situation happen to me where I was arrested and could have been facing more jail time if i was found guilty, so my life was I'm complete shambles especially since I have a security clea...rance for my job which was in jeopardy of being revoked and also, i have a baby that is due any day now.
