Mr. Manikas for President!

I am at a loss for words, but am overwhelmingly compelled to give Mr. Manikas a rave review; but no words can describe how pleased I am with his services. I was arrested for a DWI and when discussing with a friend, he told me about Mr. Manikas and how, when awaiting his own case to be heard, he wi...tnessed Mr. Manikas have his clinet's case dismissed. He spoke very highly of Mr. Manikas and strongly recommended him even though he wasn't his own attorney; only by what he witnessed his day in court. Ironically, Mr. Manikas' adverisement brochure was the first one, of too many, I received in the mail. That omen led me to make an appointment and meet Mr. Manikas for myself. Mr. Manikas immediately came acrros as trustworhty and very knowledgeable. Unlike most attorneys, Mr. Manikas didn't give me worse-case scenarios in hopes that I would just be happy with the eventual outcome; he let me know right up front he wanted my case and would do better for me than any other attorney. Or, at least, that's how I felt after retaining him. Mr. Manikas was very responsive to my phone calls and kept me informed at every stage; even telling me things three or four times for my own edification and clarification. Once we went to trial, Mr. Manikas turned on a personality I had not seen until that time, that resonated throughout the court room. He seemed to have good comraderie with the prosecutor and the judge (Is that even possible?) but I think that is because they respect his approach and knowledge of the law. Mr. Manikas studied the facts of my case to the point one would think he may have actually been there. With his tenacious approach and exceeding knowledge of the law, Mr. Manikas was able to get my case dismissed. I am forever greatful! Now, I am certain Mr. Manikas can't get every DWI case dismissed, but I guarantee you he will get you the best possible outcome that can be attained.

No stone unturned, no case routine - to Kyle Manikas.

My son got himself in a jam with a DWI and a refusal to take a breathalyzer; frankly, as a federal agent with thirty years experience I was of the opinion that defensively he was in a hopeless position. Though we had a few names of lawyers on our own, we began receiving promotions from attorneys onc...e my son's name appeared in the court system. I looked them over but threw them all out, except Kyle's. What caught my eye with Kyle's information was his years as a prosecutor in Fairfax, experience that I felt was critically important. Though he was most definatlely not the least expensive of the potentials we considered, once we met with him we decided he was our choice. Court date came and we were on pins and needles, the case before ours resulted in jail time for the defendent (also a young student, though over 21) so we were preparing for the worst and hope began to dwindle. As our trial began, the prosecutor attempted to lay out her case and examine the arresting officer, but was cut off repeatedly by Kyle's objections of "here say, irrelevant, conjecture, inadmissable"...and one after the other the judge sustained his objections...to my complete surprise. My son's case was unique for a DWI in that it was not actually a moving violation, rather a fender bender in a parking lot where he then went into his nearby girlfriends house before the police arrived. Kyle locked in on the issue of an illegal search, detailing how/why the arresting police officer's entry into this residence violated the basic constitutional protection against illegal search. As the prosecutor continued to attempt to advance her argument and build her case, Kyle just as adamently kept objecting to her attempts to introduce additional elements as irrelevant, because the initial entry into the residence to speak with my son was illegal. Long and interesting but the short story...the judge agreed and dismissed the case on the basis of the constitutional protection against illegal search - anything determined after that point was inadmissable. I was absolutely blown away by Kyle's defense; his performance in the courtroom was professional but aggressive, his command of the constitution's protections and law was superb and finally, his reading of the judge and prosecutor spot on. Based on my observations of the judge's reaction to Kyle's defense, I believe he was rightly impressed as well...and truth be told, I think the prosecutor learned something that day as well. Bottom line: Though slightly more expensive than his peers, Kyle Manikas will leave no stone unturned in your defense, will not promise what he can't deliver, and ensure that he has exhausted every legal option in your defense. I cannot recommend him highly enough. And honestly, I was expecting my son to be convicted and even if he had been convicted...after hearing Kyle's passionate defense in the courtroom, I would still be providing a positive review.

Amazing

You know those movies where the hotshot lawyer lays out the facts and argues the law as if they wrote it. Well this was that in real life. I approached a police officer to ask about my girlfriend who had been pulled over a block away from my parked vehicle. I was then convinced I had to take sobriety... test (which I passed), then a pbt (failed that part) and was booked for DWI. Someone I knew suggested a lawyer she had used before, but that lawyer didn't work in Fairfax. He suggested Mr. Manikas. It's one of the best suggestions I ever got. Of course I did my research and came upon reviews like this; however, I was still beyond nervous. As a cleared professional this isn't something I wanted on my record. He was completely honest with me every step of the way and was quick on getting back to me, but until you actually see him do his thing in the court room... let just say I'm glad he was on my side. Anyway he got my case dismissed. Truly an amazing lawyer.

Mr Manikas

DWI: Do not believe Mr Manikas’ extensive PR b-s that he has any extensive influence based on his assentation as ex-prosecutor. He has none! The law in VA/FFCo is so cut-and-dried – that he has no negotiation leverage vs any other 1st yr low-priced attorney. In fact, in my case I requested that Mr ...Manikas represent me per his website/literature based on "reasonable articulable suspicion". Mr Manikas blew-up (emotionally, totally lost it) and threatened to quit my representation no less than 1 hour before trial. Ie TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. IE: Very bad, go elsewhere.

This is a fictitious review that I believe was posted by a competing DUI attorney, not a client, and it merits no further comment. However, in the interest of fairness, when I do a consultation in a DUI case I explain that most DUI cases proceed to trial because prosecutors are very reluctant to negotiate these types of cases. My experience as prosecutor gives me perspective and knowledge on both sides of the case that has been an asset to clients in analyzing the case and presenting the legal and/or factual issues to a judge. My advice at a consultation is always extremely conservative. I never predict the outcome of a case, nor should any attorney. I always explain that it is impossible to make such predictions at that point in time and that any attorney who does so probably is not being honest with them. Accordingly, anyone who has retained my services would not come away with the impression this person portrays. Unfortunately, AVVO does not verify the veracity of such posts nor do they confirm the poster’s identity.

Life Saver

I was arrested with a class 5 felony with a minimum 1 year mandatory jail sentence for delivering 2 pounds of weed that wasn't even mine. I would have lost my job, my home. I would have gone bankrupt. Forget about a life after prison. After researching easily 50 different lawyers, I realized Mr. M...anikas was the obvious best choice. In the past he has worked as a prosecutor, and KNOWS the very people who were trying to put me away. I did nothing to give the prosecutor any reason to give me leniency so I was definitely looking at the worst possible situation. Mr. Manikas relentlessly worked with the detectives and prosecutors to get me the best possible deal. Instead of a felony, I received a misdemeanor for minor possession, no jail time, no parole officer. Just a restricted driver's license for six months. I have my job, my home and my life. There isn't a day I don't wake up and realize how incredibly fortunate I am.
