A knowledgeable guide

Adam is professional and attentive. He is also well prepared which I feel likely resulted in my positive outcome. Divorce is terrible, but it’s easier to handle when you have a good attorney and I did.

Good and decent lawyer

Mr. Kronfeld is very professional, attentive and supportive. One of the things I liked about him is his approach to find resolution - reasonable and based on facts rather then trying to punish the opponent with ridiculous demands. Although we were trying to resolve the case collaboratively we ended... up in court and Mr. Kronfeld represented me in 2 trials. Not both trials ended up as I hoped they would, I didn't get what I wanted in the first one, but the ruling of the second one exceeded my expectations. If you have been in court before you would know that the ruling is the result of many factors, and sometime the judge's preconception of the matter. The bottom line is that Mr. Kronfeld did his job professionally, he was dedicated, respectful, supportive, reliable and always took the time to explain things and advise. The charges for his services were fair and his team did a great job supporting the case. I would definitely recommend Duff and Kronfeld law firm.

Nice person but completely useless in court

I noticed another review here about Adam and I was surprised to see how similar it was to my case. Adam could be a good lawyer for cases that can be resolved outside the court. In my case, it was highly contested and had 3 days trial. Most of the time during the trial, Adam was just sitting there in ...the court room watching the drama unfold. He had very very few questions for the ex-spouse, and witnesses. He sounded not prepared even though I was charged thousands of dollars for preparing!! He didn't have a strategy and no trial planning. I end up losing the case big time and now having to live with losing custody and huge debt. After the case he said he didn't expect such a bad judgement either! He is not worth for the amount he charge.

Best lawyer, Highly recommended!

Adam has gone above and beyond his call of duty to help me and my situation. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that was not caused by me, I was harassed endlessly by insurance agents, disability agents etc. and he was not only patient to answer all my questions in a timely manner but even i...nterceded when I could not handle a particularly vicious and mean insurance agent. It is because of Adam and his assistant Cynthia dealing with all the stressful situations and legal matters, that i was able to concentrate on what is really important, my health, recovery and family. I have been recommending Adam and his associates to many I come across.

Unprepared, over-inflation of fees, and does not defend

I hired Mr. Kronfeld after meeting him at a Divorce workshop. This was my first time going through this process and having no idea how to choose an attorney, I decided to work with him. Right when we started I asked if he had ever worked with abusive spouses and how to defend his clients against mali...gning, lying and slander. He assured me he had. Clearly he had not. I would receive bills for emails that he had written on my behalf, emails I'm quite sure he simply copied and pasted from other clients (they were generic), yet would charge me 45 minutes for a small email. (Even if he had written it as an original, 45 minutes was extremely excessive!) The first court hearing was one for custody. He had asked for multiple photographs, documents, and data to which I sent him (and was charged for his going through them.) Our meeting before court he was not prepared at all. I was immediately horrified. He couldn't find the email I sent him with all the points spelled out for the next day's court, so at that meeting, I had to send it to him once again. This was about CUSTODY. He was not prepared at all. We went to court and he brought not one shred of the mounds of material and documents I sent him weeks and months before. NOT ONE PIECE. I was mortified. I went first and he was very sloppy. My ex-spouse went second. And as I predicted, he maligned me and made up lie after lie. What was most shocking was that when Mr. Kronfeld cross examined him, he did not try to defend me in any way. My ex-spouse's attorney had multiple pictures and documents (just as I had sent Mr. Kronfeld months previously, but he didn't bother to bring to court on my behalf.) I lost custody that day based on a number of lies by my ex-spouse, Mr. Kronfeld's sloppiness in his lack of defending me, and his general obliviousness to what was really happening to me and my future. And I had already paid him approximately 5 figures by this point. I fired him the next day in writing. My second attorney told me right off the bat that we now had a horribly hard hill to climb. Not only was I now in the negative with regard to custody, I was also in a deficit with my credibility because I was not adequately defended on the stand. With my second attorney we had a big victory in the second hearing, but ultimately it was not enough. Now that it is all said and done, I lost big. Starting with the huge deficit Mr. Kronfeld created for me, I then managed to re-gain custody from an abusive spouse only at 50%. But that was on the condition I would give up majorly financially. I have to rebuild my life with my girls, continue to pay my new attorney to fight for me (as I know my ex-spouse will continue to be abusive and I will have to prove it again in court), and completely start over financially. I write this review not because I want to "get" Mr. Kronfeld although I am extremely angry. I write to beg people to please not use him, please do not let this happen to you. He did not work to adequately defend me or for that matter, my children. Learn from my grief of having missed an entire year with my children as I worried about them day and night - a year I will never, ever get back.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Mr. Kronfeld is extremely knowledgeable, diligent, thorough and professional. He maintains the proper perspective for his clients and has shown rock-solid discretion in every aspect of his practice. He is also a consistent contributor of high-quality insights and wisdom in various on-line and in-person forums (fora) where lawyers submit their legal analysis for peer review. And he never misses. Other attorneys know they need to have their ducks in a row when they go up against him. I enthusiastically endorse this lawyer."

"I wholeheartedly endorse Adam. He's tremendously knowledgeable about the family law legal community in Northern Virginia, whether it be our opposing counsel or our presiding judges. He's also tremendously knowledgeable about family law itself and is accordingly someone I will go to for his input on the more obtuse areas of our practice. He also sometimes sports an attractive beard, which is something sorely lacking from his Avvo profile but might be a nice treat for you potential clients meeting him for the first time."

"Mr. Kronfeld and I discussed similar unique legal issues facing our separate clients back in 2006-2007. I was impressed with his thoroughness of research which did ultimately help me in my unrelated matter. He has since appeared as opposing counsel against another attorney at my firm, and conducted himself in a professional manner. I recommend Mr. Kronfeld for litigation matters."
