From the moment I walked in his office, he was kind, explained in layman's terms what my options were for bankruptcy. As I had never thought I would be in this situation, he made a horrible situation bearable. Took the time to explain in great detail what the outcome would be and assured me that "I w...ould be ok". Now as I move forward with the next chapter of my life I have reached out to him for questions that have arised after the fact and he and/or is office staff are more that willing to help. I was in a bind due to being abandoned by my ex-husband and a divorce. I never recovered. My house was scheduled to be Foreclosed on and I went to the Federal Building in Baltimore to file bankruptcy. I was given a list of lawyers that could help me complete the process and this is how I met Attorney... Portney. He sat down with me and ironed out all of the information needed to complete the process as I had completed the bare minimum to create a stay on the foreclosure. Although it was very intrusive, Atty Portney assured me that this was basic information that was needed for the bankruptcy. I was unaware of how in depth the entire procedure was, but he was determined to set me up so that we could be on our way. In short, everything turned out fine and I will have my bankruptcy confirmed. It was as good as it could be providing the situation. My chapter 7 case could have had many unusual complications. David prepared me for them, but everything proceeded smoothly.. Life knocked me to my knees last year and David Portney extended his hand in the form of knowledge and legal expertise and lifted me back up.
