Excellent Attorney

Nina was assigned by the courts as the BIA for my stepdaughter. She went above and beyond to make sure her best interest was taken into account. Nina is a direct and fair professional. She was quickly able to assess the credibility of the parties involved, and where they stood in the best interes...t of my stepdaughter. My husband and I could not have had a more positive experience in such a difficult and stressful situation. Nina was the epitome of class and compassion. Most of all, she was thorough in dealing with our custody case. She truly cared about the well being of her client which pleased us immensely. She is a true advocate for children’s best interest. I would recommend her in any case involving child custody matters.

Excellent Best Interest Attorney

I found Nina Helwig to be an articulate and considerate best interest attorney for my children. Despite the outcome of my custody trial, I believe my children’s best interest were first and foremost in Nina’s delivery to the court. Her findings and recommendations were impartial, and she drew her con...clusions based on facts ascertained during her numerous interviews of myself and the other parent, school officials, and other parties who are actively involved with my children’s day-to-day. Despite not gaining custody as I had desired, I believe Nina did an excellent job and really believe she is an advocate for the child (children), and is not a representative for either parent’s interest.

"I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NINA HELWIG TO ANYONE IN NEED OF EXCELLENT AND EXPERIENCED BEST INTEREST ATTORNEY REPRESENTATION."

Nina was a blessing to us during my custody battle in America in 2011. Nina was recommended by the court as Best Interest Attorney to my two children and rescued the children from their violent father and his unaccommodating wife. Nina came on board at the dying moments of the case, when I had alm...ost lost hope and was about to head back to England, without my two children. She came and changed all that for the children and myself with her incredible work. Nina was quite thorough with the way she handled the case. She quickly made things go easier than we had anticipated with her thoughtful guidance and experience and this was truly appreciated. Beyond legal advice, she showed great care as a human being, listened to the children, took them out for lunch and became a friend to them. A friend they could trust and speak to, as they were so fearful to speak to dad and his wife who forbade them from speaking to anyone else, including myself, their mother. Nina, you were a blessing and joy to work with and I can’t imagine what we would have done without your recommendations and presentation in the Child Custody case. Nina, I want to thank you again for doing a great job representing my children. We’re so grateful to you and look where we are now – we’re on the other side! I feel like I have gotten to know you fairly well; as have my children. It has been emotionally stressful for all of us, but we have remained strong. You were incredibly supportive and now, it is unto another stage of our lives; a much more positive one. Thank you so much, again!

Great Lawyer!

Mrs. Helwig did an outstanding job in our guardianship case and I would highly recommend her to anyone needing her services. Custodial/Guardianship cases are never easy for either party no matter the circumstances they are almost always an emotional rollercoaster and it was nice to have someone we co...uld trust and that really cared about the case to work with. We had a very complicated case that did not have much if any case law to go off of and she did an excellent job doing research to make sure her filings were correct for our case. Mrs. Helwig kept us very well informed throughout the entirety of the case and when we had questions (which we had a lot of) she was always quick to respond with an answer. Mrs. Helwig made sure to gather all the information pertaining to this case and speak with all parties involved, the children’s BIA, Counselors, Psychologist, opposing counsel, previous courts, etc. and she went over all the previous rulings and pleadings on this case. We could not of had better representation for our case.

Excellent BIA

Ms. Helwig did an excellent job as the court appointed Best Interest Attorney to represent my 9 year old daughter last year. She did an incredibly thorough job, interviewing over 20 witnesses from both sides, reviewing all of my daughter's school records, and speaking with her therapist, teachers, ...and friends of mine and my ex-wife. She also made my young daughter feel very comfortable when she met with her several times at both residences to discuss her wishes and desires. My attorney told me that she was a fantastic BIA and he was correct. She was in frequent contact with my attorney as well as my ex-wife's attorney, and gave a long detailed oral report to both counsel that led to my ex-wife and I settling the case and saving a lot of money in unnecessary legal fees. The two negative reviews below seem to be written by two parents who were more focused on their own interests rather than on the best interest of their minor child.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Ms. Helwig was the BIA appointed in a post-judgment modification of custody case, complicated by the mother's strong and dangerous influence on her "tween" daughter. Professional and courteous to both parties' counsel throughout the entire matter, including a multi-day trial, Ms. Helwig was an advocate for her young client without passing judgment on either parent, and was communicative and receptive to the many issues counsel raised. At trial, she was an impressive and no-nonsense litigator, and obviously respected by the Court. I endorse Ms. Helwig without reservation."
