Heidi Kohler Hotz

I highly recommend Ms. Hotz as an attorney, especially for custody cases. I was being denied access to my child and hadn't seen or heard from them in several months. I filed for custody and tried representing myself. It did not go well and I do not recommend it. As a single father and African Americ...an, I had to fight tooth and nail to even get in front of a judge, and even then it felt like I was the one on trial. I was asking for equal rights and 50/50 custody of my child, and with the help of Ms. Hotz I was able to achieve that. I now have equal time with my child as the other parent does and am now required to be involved in all decision-making. Ms. Hotz was very professional, punctual, and organized, and spoke with confidence and intelligence. She took on my case last minute and worked with me financially. She was willing to travel and represent me in a different county. Ms. Hotz was able to gather everything she needed in minimal time and was fully prepared for trial. She had a strategy, and a plan, and her knowledge of the law is impressive. Ms. Hotz was able to answer and explain any questions I had. She was readily available by phone or text which was very convenient. Many times I would be unsure how to handle a situation and she would be a text message away and advise me on what to do. Again, I highly recommend you hire Ms. Hotz if you are dealing with any type of family law situation.

I worked with Ms. Hotz over the course of three months on my divorce. From the very first interaction, she was clear in her guidance and responsive to my questions and requests. Heidi is also personally driven to complete your case with the best outcome for you, and her dedication is much appreciated as I had previously worked with attorneys who had terminated before reaching a settlement for my case. Further, Heidi respects your time and does everything on her part to expedite and move the case along. I know this appears to be baseline, but I had other experiences where I, as the client, had to be on top of ensuring that the case was moving forward. Heidi is also well-informed, trained, and sensitive to domestic violence and trauma, which was a plus for me. Once again, despite "specializing in domestic violence", I've encountered attorneys who are not knowledgeable about the ins and outs of how that plays out in the divorce proceedings. My case is now complete and I've successfully divorced with Heidi's help. She supported and advocated for me to get the best outcome I was hoping for, and I am eternally grateful.
