Each family is unique and Renée offers a solution tailored to your particular needs. Whether you are facing an uncontested divorce, gearing up for a battle over the distribution of marital assets, trying to find constructive solutions to child custody and access, dealing with intra-family violence or searching for a guardian ad litum for your child, Renée delves into the details of your particular issues and helps you choose the right personal and legal strategy to move you successfully to the next stage in your life and the life of your family.
Renée is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College Law School. She practiced for 12 years as a patent litigator at two of the best law firms in the country, obtaining top-notch strategy and litigation skills, unparalleled by many family law attorneys. She has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law for the past 7 years, first at Delaney McKinney, LLP and now at her own firm.
As a family law lawyer, Renée has represented both men and women in high conflict custody cases, litigated custody and child support in DC Superior Court and Montgomery County Circuit Court, participated in the amicable settlement of numerous cases and worked to value businesses and determine the equitable distribution of assets in the millions. Although not yet ranked in Washingtonian’s top family law lawyers, Renée has taken many of those lawyers on and prevailed.
With her excellent litigation skills, her financial acumen, but most importantly, her empathy for and natural inclination to work on behalf of children and families, is the perfect balance of skills for a family law lawyer.
Renée is also trained in Collaborative Law. She was selected to serve on the D.C. Superior Court’s Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, representing parents and children in neglect cases. Renée volunteers in the DC Superior Court Family Law Self-Help Center and participates pro bono in the Family Court’s Attorney Negotiator Program, working with pro se litigants to settle their family law matters before they appear before the Court.
Renée’s interest in working on behalf of family and children started in 1989 when she was a teacher in a South Central Los Angeles high school after graduating from college. She worked for and on behalf of children when she handled family law cases at the Legal Assistance Bureau in Boston, Massachusetts, representing low income clients in divorce and custody cases. While building her career as a patent litigator, she continued to serve children in a pro bono capacity. Renée trained and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate – a judge-appointed advocate for abused and neglected children in the dependency court system. She taught Constitutional Law seminars at an alternative high school in San Diego, California. Renée also served as a guardian ad litum in adoption cases.
Renée graduated with a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1989 and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston College School of Law in 1996. Renée is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, Maryland and California. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Family Law Section, the Montgomery County Bar Association, Family Law Section, the District of Columbia Bar, Family Law Section and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.

Thank You Renee!
I was referred to Renee by a co-worker and could not have been happier. What should have been a simple request for child support became an all out battle. Renee stood beside me through discovery, deposition and trial. I will never forget how many discrepancies in statements she picked up on during...

Best advocate for you and your loved ones during one of the most stressfu life events
Renee was recommended to me by another attorney who I knew personally. Her support, expertise, attention to detail and navigation of unfamiliar legal waters were incomparable. I found one of her greatest strengths to be support in times of this client's mental exhaustion, something that often occurs ...

Terrible judgment and wastes time and money
She is not competent so she tries to compensate by theatrics. She embarrasses herself and her clients by the way she conducts herself. I hired her but am glad I fired her before she could mess up my case. She does not check her facts and does not know the law and was admonished by the judge severa...

Over emotional, bad at making arguments before judge
She's nice enough but that doesn't really matter so much when it comes legal representation. She's not good at standing up to questions from the judge and the other side's lawyer. She also has a tendency to be a bit emotional. Goes hand in hand with being bad at making arguments, just doesn't have th...
