About me

As an Attorney, Mediator, and Collaborative Professional, Shelly M. Ingram has represented Maryland divorce and family law clients since 2004. Shelly litigates cases involving divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, modifications, marital property, domestic violence, and an array of post-judgment issues. In many contested cases, litigation is the only option. Ms. Ingram is experienced in dealing with the emotional and financial complexities of separation, divorce, alimony, child custody and child support.

In 2005, Ms. Ingram completed mediation training as prescribed by the Maryland Rules of Procedure and additional alternative dispute resolution training with the District Court of Maryland. Since then, Ms. Ingram has completed an additional 40 additional hours of mediation training focused on child access and marital property disputes. As an alternative to litigation, mediation can provide clients with an opportunity to be creative and resolve disputes in a uniquely tailored and cost-effective way.  In 2012, Ms. Ingram was collaboratively trained. As an alternative to traditional litigtion or mediation, Ms. Ingram is excited to offer collaborative law services to her family law clients.

A life long resident of Maryland, Ms. Ingram is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park (B.A. 1997) and the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D. 2004).  The first in her family to obtain a graduate degree, Ms. Ingram earned her law degree at night while working full-time as a Law Clerk for the Sex Offense Division of the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office. After graduating from law school, Ms. Ingram had the honor to serve as Judicial Clerk to Judge Steven I. Platt of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Ms. Ingram is a Member of Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Montgomery County, the Bar Association of Howard County and the American Bar Association. As a child of divorce and a person who has been divorced herself, Ms. Ingram understands the uncertainty and frustrations of child custody and divorce.

The Law Office of Shelly M. Ingram, LLC was founded in 2012.

  • David Louis Ruben

I highly endorse Shelly. She is an excellent family law attorney and I often refer cases to her. When an attorney refers cases to another attorney, that is the highly compliment one can give or receive.
