Sogand Zamani

About me

When confronted with major life changes, clients often struggle with how to minimize the uncertainty they face, take steps to meet the changing needs of their family and protect their interests - regardless of whether they are a primary wage-earner and provider, or a stay-at-home mom. Sogand Zamani serves her clients by bringing her experience and personal approach to each client, educating clients as to their options and the law, thoughtfully analyzing finances and empowering clients to make sound decisions to achieve their goals.

Sogand represents individuals (including LGBTQ) in all aspects of family law, including the negotiation of premarital agreements, custody, divorce, adoption and assisted reproductive technology (surrogacy, gestational carrier and donor arrangements) throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia.  She works with individuals as a mediator or Collaborative attorney when appropriate, and strongly advocates for clients in connection with contested and highly litigated custody and divorce cases.

Sogand has a particular passion for and strength in complex international and high-conflict custody and divorce matters, often requiring cross-jurisdictional and cultural sensitivity.   She draws on her training in conflict resolution at The Hague, her language proficiency in French and Farsi, and her academic background as a graduate of both Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service where she earned her B.S. in International Politics, and Harvard University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences where she earned an A.M. in Middle Eastern Studies to help clients navigate international litigation.

When she is not practicing law,  Sogand enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, volunteering, and photography.

Zamani & Associates PLLC represents clients throughout the District of Columbia and Maryland, including Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville, Potomac, and Silver Spring.
