Early in Attorney Chavers career, he served as director of civil rights compliance at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he authored and established its civil rights compliance program throughout the United States.
Attorney Chavers was one of the first lawyers in the greater Washington, D.C., area to develop an arts and entertainment law practice in DC. This practice is a highly specialized area of the law and is rarely found in law firms.
Attorney Chavers is also the founder and first chairman of the Entertainment, Sports, and Art Law Section of the National Bar Association and the Washington Area Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. He was the first general counsel and charter member of the Association of American Cultures.
