Stefanie Roemer represents the interests of individuals in employment discrimination, medical malpractice, and other civil and consumer rights matters both at the trial level and on appeal. Ms. Roemer lends her significant litigation and trial experience as a former federal prosecutor to a range of matters at the firm that include criminal defense, employment, fraud and predatory-lending claims. Ms. Roemer has served as counsel in both criminal and civil trials, including, most recently, the defense of a federal Marshal accused of first-degree murder and the prosecution of claims brought on behalf of two federal employees alleging violations of their rights to free speech and to be free from discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the LMRDA. Ms. Roemer has represented individuals and classes against Countrywide Bank, General Electric, Fairfield Resorts, and the U.S. Marshals service. She currently serves as co-lead counsel in the representation of a class action brought on behalf of the District’s children against “D.C. Water,” seeking monetary and injunctive relief for the cover-up of toxic lead levels that contaminated the District’s water supply from 2001-2004.
