Excellent Courtroom Work!

I came to Mr. Riddick about a custody case. My situation was unusual. My child's father had another child by a different woman, and that mother had been involved in a court case with my child's father. Same issues. So a friend suggested that I call the lawyer who had represented the other mother.... It just so happened that Mr. Riddick was the attorney who had represented the other mother in court, and I knew that he had been successful in the other case. Initially, I had another attorney serving me, but she was not responsive to me, or in my mind acting in my child's best interests. So I made a change. When I came to see Mr. Riddick, I brought a relative. In my interview with him, he listened carefully to my concerns, and he made feel that he would do what was best for my daughter. Mr. Riddick also suggested that I make every effort to try to work things out before going to court. He made clear that he expected me to do all that I could to resolve the matter without taking the father to court. And I did just that. Here was my problem. I started having constant disagreements about custody and visitation with my child's father. So we had to go to court. On the first court hearing, my child's father consented just before the hearing was to begin, to joint legal and sole physical custody to me. But afterwards he stopped speaking to me and his daughter. The problem was that our child was in a great but very expensive private school, and for her to get tuition aid, both parents had to provide financial information. My child's father just refused to be cooperative. And to make matters worse, the school made clear that if both parents did not submit their financial information, our child would not receive further tuition assistance. Our daughter had been in that school for 8 years, and I was determined to keep her there. The school indicated that if I had sole custody, the child could remain and qualify for assistance based solely on my income. Mr. Riddick wrote to the school and told them that he was going to do whatever it took to remove the roadblock to the child remaining at that school, and he did just that. He filed for sole custody. We had a trial in the winter of 2014. Less than six weeks later, I received an Order granting me sole custody. My daughter will now get to remain in a great school that she absolutely loves attending. I really appreciate how Mr. Riddick communicated with me during the process, and his understanding of my situation as a parent himself. He shared with me that he had a daughter, and I felt he tried to be empathetic. His courtroom work was straightforward and effective. I recommend him.

Johnny Riddick Review 2014

At first Johnny did all the right things to give me the impression that he could best represent me in court so that I could continue to see my daughter and raise her to be productive in our society. Instead of representing my interest, Johnny first found out that I had a good job and could afford t...o pay him. He allowed my 13 year old daughter to go on the witness stand. This has turned out to be disastrous for my daughter because she is now realizing that it was a bad idea. Her mother didn't care, however I expected Johnny - giving his years of experiences not to allow this. Then Johnny started telling me that he will pray for me. I needed an attorney to represent me in court so that I could continue to see me daughter even though my wife wanted out of the marriage. My wife took advantage of me and my now-ex-wife took advantage of me. I needed a good attorney that knows the laws and how to represent me. One of the things that he does is not to give you a copy of the legal documents so that he can get more money out of you. Telling me that you will pray for me, mean while my ex-wife is killing me in court and she is representing herself and she is not an attorney.

Exceptional Legal Work - Exceptionally Kind Man

I was referred to Mr. Riddick by a neighbor who lived 3 doors down. She told me that Mr. Riddick was a wonderful lawyer. My case involved a difficult divorce, with custody of my children, a house, and a pension at stake. I had a 20 year marriage. My now ex-husband was a bit overbearing, he was a ...law enforcement officer. I went to see Mr. Riddick, explained my circumstances, and he agreed to take my case for a modest retainer fee. The other lawyers I had interviewed wanted an arm and a leg. He discussed with me his views on how my case should be handled. It was very clear to me at the beginning that he was very experienced. It was also clear that he was a very knowledgeable and patient person. We began the litigation process. My husband fought me on everything. He actually wanted primary custody of the kids, even though I had been a stay at home mom for much of the marriage and had raised the kids. We had a house that he owned prior to the marriage and he had a pension, and he did not want to share any of it with me, even after 20 years of marriage. I wanted to get retrained because I knew I would have to go back to work after the divorce. I attended school to get a marketable skill. I have almost finished that retraining. After the litigation, here is what I got. I got primary custody of the kids. I got to remain in the former marital home for 5 more years, which will allow both of my children to finish college. I do not have to pay the mortgage on the home during that time, or pay for maintenance and upkeep of the home. My ex-husband has to do that. When the 5 years is up, my husband has to pay me a share of the equity in the home, which is substantial, even though my ex-husband owned the home before we got married. I won a substantial share of his retirement. And I got child support. So I get primary custody of the kids, a chance to finish my retraining, no rent or mortgage to pay for the next 5 years, a six-figure buy-out of the equity in the home when the 5 years is up, and a portion of his retirement. I am more than satisfied. And to top it off, Mr. Riddick forgave a substantial portion of my legal bill at the end of the case, and discussed with me things like how to rebuild myself financially after the divorce. I feel like everything is going to be okay. And he treated me with respect and kindness. Great legal work! This man is very highly skilled, and very compassionate.

Great trial work, fabulous appellate work!

I was referred to Johnny Riddick by another law firm in 2010. At the time I was being represented by another attorney. My case involved a very complex divorce case. There were 3 young children involved, and a significant amount of property was at stake. My ex-husband hired a small team of expensi...ve lawyers, and he fought me on every issue. The biggest issues were custody of our children, and I wanted to keep the marital home, even though I knew that my husband had owned prior to our marriage. I wanted alimony to help me get on my feet because I had been a stay at home mother, and I wanted child support. My husband offered to "rent" me a house for 2 years, and pay a small amount of child support. I refused his offer and we had to go to trial. We had a 14 day trial which spanned over nearly 8 months. My husband put on 5 witnesses, including an expert. My husband's lawyers introduced thousands of pages of exhibits. Mr. Riddick put on one witness, me, and he introduced about 20 exhibits into evidence. The Trial Judge's decision amazed me. I won sole physical custody of the children. I won sole possession of the marital home. I won $6,000.00 a month in rehabilitative alimony. I won $3,000+ a month in child support. I won a number of other things also. in a nutshell, I won everything I asked for, and more. And the Judge ordered my ex-husband to pay $80,000 in legal fees. My ex-husband appealed. In fact, filed 5 appeals out of the one case. Mr. Riddick filed briefs and represented me at oral argument. I won my appeal, with a decision which was a published opinion and a predecent for other woman. I do not even have words to describe Mr. Riddick's work in my case, and the way he treated me during the most period in my life. Wonderful work.

Tough and to the Point!

I was referred to Mr. Riddick by someone on my job who he had served before. He came highly recommended. I was told that he would work with me even if I had financial problems. My case involved a DIVORCE. I learned that my wife had been unfaithful to me, and was seeing men even with our young so...ns around. She left and would not let me see my children for weeks. We had a marital home, and there were pension issues. Mr. Riddick started representing me in February, 2012. In December, 2012, my case was fully resolved. Here is what Mr. Riddick got for me and my sons. I got the marital home completely (its totally mine now), I got joint legal and physical custody of my sons, with equal time sharing (1 week on and 1 week off), I got 1/2 of my wife's retirement, the Judge stopped me from paying child support to my ex-wife and made her pay me child support, and I kept all of my pension. I would highly recommend Mr. Riddick. He is tough, but he treated me with kindness and respect, even when I was being difficult with him. He was very patient and supportive of me. I will never forget how he and his secretary of many years treated me during a tough time. I am a satisfied client. Now I have to pay him ( for a job well done)!
