Exceptional Advocate and Compassionate Attorney

I had the privilege of being represented by Julie Marburger, Esq. during one of the most difficult chapters of my life. From the very beginning, Julie was not only incredibly knowledgeable about family law but also deeply compassionate and empathetic. Julie listened to me without judgment and alwa...ys made me feel heard and respected. She explained complex legal concepts in ways I could understand, and she approached every challenge in my case with determination and strategic thinking. What stood out most about Julie was her courage to speak up when she saw injustice. She was never afraid to call out unethical behavior and advocate fiercely on my behalf. Her professionalism and integrity gave me confidence, even when I felt overwhelmed. Unfortunately, when my case moved from Berks County to Chester County, Julie was unable to continue representing me because she does not practice there. Losing her as my attorney was one of the hardest parts of that transition because she had become such an essential source of support and guidance. Julie is not just an excellent attorney—she is a remarkable person who truly cares about her clients. I will always be grateful for the time she stood by my side, fighting for me and my family. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Unpleasant Experience

While I'd much rather be leaving a positive review, this experience does not warrant as much. In the spirit of preventing others from receiving the poor service I received, I submit the following: I came to Julie with a very simple, uncontested divorce matter in which I had done the majority of the... preliminary work on. She wrapped up a few necessary, remaining documents, submitted them to the court, and informed me that I should have a final decree within a couple weeks. A couple weeks passed, and then a month, with no correspondence from her or her staff. At that point, I felt a follow-up inquiry was necessary. Her email response told me only what I already knew: that we were waiting for the Judge to sign, and that I would receive a digital and mailed decree once that transpired. She felt compelled to charge me extra for that. At that point, I just continued to wait. I understand that dealing with a bureaucracy can be unpredictable, however, as my attorney, and with the timeline of "a couple weeks", I would expect some follow-up on her part to occur. After a total of 3 1/2 months elapsed, and I was left completely in the dark, I felt certain my case had slipped through the cracks. After a reluctant inquiry to her, since I didn't really have any more funds to casually donate to uninformative communication, she subsequently followed up with her contact at the courthouse, and miraculously my decree was signed that very day. So, clearly my case did fall through the cracks. It wasn't delayed due to insufficient documentation, child custody issues, alimony, or any of the reasons a divorce matter could be complicated. She simply failed to follow through. It was an unnecessarily long and stressful process. I hope my review will serve to prevent an unsavory experience for others. Sidenote: she did credit my account for the uninformative email, but only after I complained and she defended herself by telling me that 'my frustrations were misdirected'. A reply you might expect to receive from a therapist, not the attorney you hired to handle your divorce, and only contact person you have for updates. I exercised a great deal of patience throughout this process, while simultaneously not being kept abreast. I believe my frustrations were directed quite appropriately.

Hi Natalie. I am very sorry to see this review from you and to hear that you remain frustrated after I was able to get your final decree in divorce. As I explained to you in response to your email, once all of the documents are filed in a divorce, I, as the attorney, have no control over the timing of the final decree. Normally, it takes anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Further, as I also explained, unfortunately, the Judge you had assigned to your case does permit contact from attorneys with his staff, so I had very few remedies to get this resolved for you. You are correct that your case fell through the cracks, but on the Court's end, not on mine. That's what I meant about your frustrations being misdirected. I had done everything procedurally I could do. At risk of incurring the anger of the Judge, I did reach out to his staff and I was able to get this resolved for you immediately. I am sorry that it did not happen sooner, but again that was because of an issue with the Judge, not me. I kept you updated of everything that was filed and the procedure every step of the way; however, once it was on the Judge's desk, the only update I have is that we are waiting on the Judge. I am glad I was able to fix the errors in your case, but I am sorry that we did not receive the final decree from the Court in a timely manner. If there is anything I can do to help you feel more satisfied about this process, please do not hesitate to email me and I will do whatever I can do fix it.

Horrible lawyer.

Horrible Lawyer. Straight up ignored what I wanted, misrepresented what I wanted to the court in hopes that she would get a bigger payout herself and lied about what had been discussed outside of court between myself and the other party as to what deal we would have liked to reach. I would never reco...mmend her to anyone unless you want to waste money just letting her do whatever she wants and ignoring any input you have as her client.

Based on the circumstances you detail in your review and that this was written anonymously, I believe you are the opposing party from a hearing I recently had. My client was very satisfied with the outcome of said hearing. If you have an issue with the settlement, I recommend that you address that with your own attorney. My obligation is not to get a good deal for opposing parties, but rather to advocate for what my own client wants.
