I first met with Mr. Emkey in 2014 for my daughters DUI. I had scheduled to meet 4 lawyers that day. Not knowing anything about obtaining a lawyer we first met with a different lawyer who was located in Wyomissing. This other lawyer had a nice office in one of the nice business centers. I felt th...e location might make him a better lawyer and he probably handled cases like mine "white collar workers" and I wouldn't feel so embarrassed. How wrong I was about that. He was very condescending. I walked out of there knowing that he was not for us. Mr. Emkey was the third lawyer we met with that day and the last. The office atmosphere was very nice and the assistant that greeted us was very kind. Mr Emkey was professional and explained everything. I didn't feel rushed and I felt like my daughters case was as important as any other case he was working on that day. Mr. Emkey kept me up to date with the case. Phone messages where answered within hours. He was able to get the ARD program for my daughter and eventually her case was exonerated. In 2018 I needed a lawyer for another family member. Embarrassing as it was and without hesitation I called Mr. Emkey. He had the same empathy for my other family member and kept us up to date as the case went on. Calls where returned quickly. The outcome of the case was better then expected. Hopefully I will never need a lawyer again. But if I do Mr. Emkey is the one I will be calling.

A couple of years back I happened to come across Attorney Emkey's Office after coming out of the bail bondsman office near The Berks County Courthouse. Well, I must say it was my lucky day. My son, Gary, was in trouble for crimes associated with Heroin Addiction. Heroin Addiction for those who ...do not know first hand steals one's soul and subjects the user with anti-social behavior that focuses on one thing: Getting the next FIX. And what it does to the family is absolute pure hell with all the possibilities coming into play like losing your son, etc. I can go on and on, but the purpose of this review is to focus on Dan Emkey. My wife and I communicated with Dan many times about my son's criminal problems and was in court with him and my son on every occasion. We were amazed at Dan's comittment to my son's case. (I can tell you being in the courtroom watching other cases the lawyers did not seem to be that committed.) He cared about my son and was extremely honest with us and kept us informed every step of the way. Today, Gary has been drug free for approximately a year and one half and is on 4 years probation -- after many court dates and appearances in 3 counties, I think that is pretty dag-on good! This is the bottom line, Dan Emkey is a professional attorney with all the traits of a good human being. He cares about his clients and his community. And, he will turn every stone to see to it that his clients get a fair shake. Again, he cares.................. My son, Gary, is doing well working hard and bonding with his son. My wife and I are very proud of him and extremely thankful that I had a lucky day walking into Dan Emkey's Office. All the folks in Dan's office were truly professionals and approachable..... They all cared! What a great Guy and we would feel the same way if things did not turn out the way they did.......

My son was a client of Daniel Emkey. They both seemed to hit it off right away, my don's words. My son had been diagnosed a few weeks earlier with a severe mental ilnrsz, and he freely admitted even before hiring Mr. Emkey that he was guilty of the crime. He faved up to 30 years in prison. Mr. Em...key advised me to hire his investigator to contact and interview character witnesses. I complied. Mr. Emkey visited my son in detention several times and icalled my home to speak with my husband and me to find out how our son was doing, our take on the situation and our don's wellbeing and adjustment to his new lifestyle. My son had been married 15 years with three children. He had an exemplary legal and work record. We believe had it not been for his illness, the crime would not have occurred. Mr. Emkey explained that, according to the law, mental illness is not an excuse for a crime having been committed. In the end, the lowest Mandatory Minimum was the sentence, fifteen years. We expect that with good behavior, some courses taken while in prison and time already served in detention all considered the sentence will be reduced to ten or eleven years. Mr. Emkey and his staff were always available to talk to us. He shared info as much as possible as to the progression of the case. The outcome was the best possible outcome allowed by law.
