Cheryl L. Young

Cheryl Young is tough, honest and very ethical. Does not " nickel and dime you" like the others. She knows her stuff and handles herself and me, the client with a hard line but always on target. She gets the job done and hates the " petty" arguments and has no tolerance for the other side's " bad behaviors". Just a solid lawyer in this arena of crazy ones who are out for the cash only....

Ms. Young represented me in a family court/ child custody matter. She gained my trust after our first one hour meeting: she was a great listener, and empathic. This is in stark contrast to the way in which she litigated in court. She was very tough, agile in asking probing questions--she thinks very well on her feet. Opposing parties were quite evasive, but Ms. Young was able to get the facts and present them to the court in a logical manner by asking both me and the opposing party those questions that cut through the extraneous information. She was very quick at getting things done--didn't waste anyone's time (a great asset when in family court at present hourly rates!). One caveat I found was that she does not like the continuing small "battles" that sometimes occur in very adversarial cases. She is very good at starting and ending a dispute; however, when problems keep arising (as in the minority of custody cases), she would rather not continue to litigate. I think that this is a good strategy in a family lawyer; however, not all cases are easily resolved. Overall, she is an outstanding attorney, very knowledgeable and a great litigator--she can very quickly and succinctly gather and present pertinent information: she thinks on her feet!

Cheryl Young is the best lawyer I have ever dealt with in all my professional years. She is 100% ethical, tough but fair, and knows the law and negotiation but would never sell out her client. She only advocates within the confines of the law and will defend her client vigorously but not at the abusive level of many. She is just great and has helped my hopeless case come full circle. SHE NEVER STOPS TILL JUSTICE PREVAILS

In a complicated financial case involving businesses, and other large assets, where this lawyer was recommended, I found she did as little work as possible. She responded to my questions with terse emails. Did not conduct discovery, did not find out the true worth of assets, we had toward 4 way meetings which were a waste of time.

One word or terse answers to emails. I was presented with a poorly written agreement drafted by opposing counsel and I was asked to sign it without modification. She is very expensive and I got little accomplished. Every motion/petition she filed for me was denied.

Had to fire her. She delayed my divorce by at least a year by moving so slowly and by failing to provide my disclosure documents to opposing counsel. She was non-responsive, expensive, and unhelpful. Her replacement got the job done in a few months.
