At age 85, as an investor, and former public school administrator for two decades, I’ve had too many reasons to avail myself of legal services! I’d like to pass along a” nugget” gleaned from those experiences. As opposed to the large, big-name legal conglomerates, in retrospect, through the years I was better served by the offices of single and/or dual-partnership law firms. How so? With the “biggies,” in an overwhelming number of cases, the primary workload is delegated to interns, law clerks and very junior partners. On the other hand, however, the individual practitioner is highly motivated to achieve a successful end. His/her “survival” depends upon it. Limited resources in the small firm? Hardly. In today’s electronic age, detailed research is instantly available to all who seek it. This brings to mind a personal experience of a dozen years ago. I had invested $100,000 in an insurance company annuity based primarily upon the terms defined in its promo. At the end of the first year, though, the credited return amount fell far short of that promised. On the recommendation of a friend, I contacted Attorney Mingo Stroeber who agreed with my position and accepted the case. Her action was immediate. I was given all copies of the ensuing correspondence. Certainly in large measure because of her letters, the company “caved” in a matter of weeks and settled for cancellation of the annuity contract and awarded me $120,000. (An interesting footnote: purely the “luck of the draw” in my case, within two months of that settlement the company declared bankruptcy!) As a result of that initial lawyer-client experience, my wife and I developed a personal relationship with Mingo, providing many opportunities to observe her in social situations where she continued to display the qualities evident in the law office. She has an ease of manner that quickly places her on a mutual-acceptance basis with people of varying age groups and different walks of life. We also recently had an opportunity to observe her demeanor in a tense court room situation. Presto! There the social bon vivant was replaced by a steely all-business agent! But the story doesn’t end there. While, fortunately, I’ve had no further need of Mingo’s services directly in a lawsuit, from time to time, various issues have arisen requiring a quick legal opinion. I’ve never hesitated and always felt welcomed to ask for her advice (another advantage of the small firm “personal touch”).

Defense of the Innocent
Ms Stroeber represented me in 2011 for several criminal matter that was overblown (imagine that) by a bias Distirct Attorney. She meet with me several times to discuss the matter and her strategy for winning the case. I was very upset during the meetings&especially the trial since losing would have ruined my professional career not to mention my life. She provided excellent counsel & always took my calls even after hours when I would have anxiety moments. Her court room presence even with a prosecutorial friendly judge was outstanding. Thanks to her tireless efforts I have my life back & her fee did not require me to mortgage my home like some other attorney I had contacted. I feel that Ms. Stroeber is one of the best criminal defense lawyers in the area & have recommended her to several of my friends who also had legal issue.

The best in the business
An exceptional lawyer. Well-prepared, well-informed and kept me apprised every step of the way. I would be in jail now if it weren't for her.

Paid Her For a Consult, She Cancelled Representation Day Before Court
Mingo Stroeber was hired by me on October 21, 2011 for representation in Family Court on November 8th at 9:00am. I paid her $350 for the consult and owed her $300 to be paid on November 8. She told me I had a sure win as my child was "gaming the system" (her words) and she would win my case for me. On November 7 at 4:00pm she called me to tell me that something came up and she was unable to represent me. I asked her to get a continuance but she said it was too late. But she had a friend who would represent me and arranged for the friend to meet me on November 8 one hour before court to explain things. I decided that this was not in my best interest and called the law office of Mark Momjian but found he was unavailable that late in the day and I was told to call back the next day. After calling 3 other law offices and getting their answering services I figured it was too late to find a new attorney. I called the attorney for the City of Philadelphia, reached her and explained the situation and asked for a continuance. It was explained to me that if Stroeber refused to represent me so late in the day I should use the attorney assigned to me on "the wheel", but no continuances would be granted to anyone except an attorney. Now it was after 5:00pm and most law offices were closed and not accepting clients who needed them the next morning with no knowledge of the case or preparation. I contacted Stroeber and told her I would allow the friend to represent me and asked her to explain the intricacies of the situation and she said she would. She then got the friend on the phone and we made arrangements for a meeting before court. Needless to say, this guy was worthless in court and I lost, spending another $300 for the friend. This was one of the worst experiences I ever had with an attorney and I hope nobody has to go through the travails of Family Court with Mingo Stroeber.
