Matthew Brydon LaGarde

Matthew LaGarde joined Katz, Marshall & Banks as a paralegal in October 2011 and became an associate with the firm in August 2016. In May 2016, Mr. LaGarde graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law, which he attended from the fall of 2012 until May 2016 while continuing to work full-time at the firm.  Mr. LaGarde also received the Larry B. Shoda award, given annually to an evening student who has achieved scholastic excellence. During law school, Mr. LaGarde was a member of the editorial board of the Maryland Law Review and his publication on the constitutionality of Maryland’s 2012 state redistricting was selected as the Law Review's submission for a Scribes Award.  

Prior to joining Katz, Marshall & Banks, Mr. LaGarde spent four years as a professional poker player, during which time he competed at the highest levels of tournament poker, including regular appearances at the World Series of Poker, and produced instructional videos for multiple poker training websites.

Mr. LaGarde graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park in May of 2005 with a B.A. in Government and Politics. While in college, Mr. LaGarde spent a summer interning for Senator Paul Sarbanes of Maryland and worked for the remaining summer and winter breaks for the labor and employment law firm of Yablonski, Both & Edelman.
