He has litigated claims brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (“Title VII”), the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (“WARN”), the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (“ADEA”), the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (“PHRA”) and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (“LAD”).
Mr. Murphy also has extensive experience bringing individual and class claims pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) and similar state wage and hour statutes. He has successfully litigated class and collective claims on behalf of groups of employees and recovered millions of dollars in unlawfully denied compensation.
In addition to the above, Mr. Murphy provides counseling to employees regarding employment contract negotiation, non-competition agreements, as well as severance package review and negotiation. Finally, Mr. Murphy provides legal counseling to executives and physicians who are in the process of negotiating initial and renewed employment contacts.
