George H Margetas

I hired George Margetas for a DUI case in York, PA. I paid him upfront, on the agreement we were going to fight it. I never heard from him again, until the day of court (a yr later) in which he was late! Then handed me documents that said “Admission of guilt” he also kept confusing me with his “Ot...her Client” he basically took my money, never answered or returned my calls an lied to me. Total Crook an terrible attorney!

If you need an attorney that is attentive to your case and supports your process, Mr. Margetas is NOT the attorney you want to represent you. He does not listen to you and continually cuts you off mid-conversation and over talks when trying to explain anything to him. He lost original documents pro...vided to him for the case, he does not return phone calls or emails. I hired Mr. Margetas to represent my son during his custody case for over $3,000 and he spent less than 3 hours total representing my son. I drafted the custody agreement for him, I coordinated with the mother and her legal counsel, and mother's legal counsel filed the agreement with the court. We received no advice or representation from Mr. Margetas. He did not at any time reach out and schedule any appointments, it all had to be initiated by myself or my son. And without Mr. Margetas returning phone or email, all meetings were rushed at the last hour before any hearings. Mr. Margetas was not even capable of negotiations during the attorney-client pre-trial meeting, I had to do that as well in order to achieve resolution. I could have saved myself a lot of money and assisted my son acting on his own. Mr. Margetas took the money and did nothing. We now have another hearing for the custody and Mr. Margetas has not responded to any email or phone calls from the mother's attorney or myself. Save yourself additional stress and don't waste your time or money on this attorney, find other representation.

I hired George due to his charismatic personality. I hired him before and the day before trial he basically told me I should take the deal offered because if I didn’t he didn’t think we would win! Prior to that though he was telling me we had the trial in a bag, basically telling me we were good so I... didn’t file any motions at my PTCs. I needed a lawyer for another charge a couple years later and I spoke to him and he told me to come for a consultation. I showed him what I was up against and his charisma kicked in. He assured me that he was the guy for the job and he could get me the best deal or spank it at trial. I payed him up front for everything. He convinced me to waive my prelim which was a huge WARNING. No lawyer who thinks he can beat a case would ever ask you to waive your preliminary. He assured me that it was all part of his plan on getting me the best deal. During the pre trial conference faze, Ive only had one office visit with George. I really wanted to speak about my case any deals that were offered and his strategy for trial if the deals were not reasonable. Every time I spoke or asked a question George would cut me off and try to answer with a disingenuous response in an effort to rush the conversation and get the meeting over with. Any other conversation I had with George was at the court house moments before the pre trial conference. However, any conversation at the court house felt more constructive as if I wasn’t allowed to speak. I actually heard him and another client arguing and cursing amongst one another. I did hear the other client say “why don’t you ever let me talk.... you never listen to me” and I knew exactly how he felt. Eventually, George ended up wasting any opportunity at my pre trial conferences and got me a deal that any public defender could have got me. The deal offered by the DA was by standard point range and I had just paid him thousand of dollars to basically do nothing. George knows how to make you feel real good in the beginning to get your money but in the end has no professional relationship to the DAs to help mitigate a proper deal, he’s not an active listener when it comes to your concerns about your case and I felt like he strung me along about taking it to trial when the whole time he was just trying to make me take a plea so he could do less work. I feel totally ripped off and afterwards wanted to ask for a refund of some of my money at least but was just glad to be done with him for good. I would recommend a public defender over this guy any day and don’t know how he got the positive reviews he has. The longer your around him the more noticeable it is that he doesn’t really care about your life being on the line or your family depending on your. Very unprofessional and showed little interest in my insight the closer we got to the last PTC. Charisma though he had it

George is a very experienced and professional attorney. His passion for his work is apparent in the way he aggressively fights for his clients. At no time did I doubt him or have a lack of confidence in his representation. He took the time to explain things thoroughly in consultations and educate me ...on different parts of the law. When my court date came he arrived on time and prepared to fight for me. His tenacity resulted in an even better outcome than what I had been preparing for. I will never walk into another court room without his representation. I have already recommended him to multiple people and I will continue to do so.
