Erik Spurlin, Esq., CELA, LL.M., is recognized as a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation--a certification only a few York County attorneys maintain. Prior to starting his own firm, Erik was an associate of the Elder Law Firm of Robert Clofine in York, PA and Appel & Yost in Lancaster, PA, where his practice was focused on estate planning, estate administration, long-term care and Medicaid planning, and tax law. Erik also served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the York County Orphans’ Court, which rules on disputes involving trusts and estates, guardianship and related matters. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the Elder Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the York County Bar Association. He serves as a board member to multiple sections of the York County Bar Association and a Professional Adviser to Leave a Legacy York County.
Erik frequently presents seminars to other lawyers as a lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, most recently presenting the following courses: Practical Medicaid Planning (2017); Medicaid Basics (2017); Guardianship Updates and Trends (2016); Fixing Broken Trusts (2016); Protecting Assets While Qualifying for Medicaid (2016); Estate Planning for the Alzheimer’s Client (2015); and Guardianship Practice and Procedure (2015).
Erik earned his J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law, where he also received his LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation, with distinction. During this time he also earned a Graduate Certificate in Estate Planning and was the sole recipient of the Joseph Price Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Tax Law in 2010. A Pennsylvania native, Erik is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, and master’s degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science.

Comfortable yet Professional
Erik has a friendly demeanor that instantly puts one at ease. I really didn't have to specify every detail I wanted in my will, because he knew all the right questions to ask and had the answers I needed. I will definitely use Erik again for my legal needs.
